I have some really oop gofrf boy orks from waaaaay back (before 3rd ed) and was wondering if I could use them for Lootas if I cut off the bolt pistol and add heavy weapons to them. They are not noticeably shorter than the current orks but I heard GW is kicking some people out of stores for using oop models on their tables, as shown halfway down in this link posted by Hurrdurr2000:

If they are GW models, go ahead and use them. If the store guys are a bunch of idiots then you can contact their manager (store or regional) or take it higher, or you can take it as a sign that you should find somewhere else to play.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

If GW kicks you out of their store for using THEIR models, that is a GW problem, not yours. Do it.

GW putting people out of stores has nothing to do with legality.

Or do you mean a tournament legal thing?

Im waiting for the day when GW requires all models used in stores and official tournaments to be current edition/range models. Im sure its not far off.

Sometimes I think GW is trying to drive off customers.

The OP picked a bad example in his link. As much as I enjoy bashing GW for wrongs and slights real or perceived (especially their stores, and the retail-tax the stores impose on us all), they were in the right (more-or-less) on that one.

As for Lootas, as long as they look super shooty and are clearly distinguished from the rest of the army (<-- that's the most important part), I can't imagine that anyone worth playing against will bother you for it (especially with Orks, who are given a certain amount of artistic license).

why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

I don't see why you would get kicked out of your GW for bringing in OOP models that's a little messed up if you ask me especiallly since your counting them as lootas giving them deffgunz and all that

I play at Warhammer World (i.e. GW's world HQ) and OOP models are a source of positive attention and respect amongst the staff; they have them on display in the museum upstairs, so why would they be iffy about you playing them on the tables? It's not a GW problem, it's a stupid employee problem.

I've even seen someone use an OOP Eldar Avatar in a tournament (on a 25mm slotta base, about the size of a guardian). The guy playing against the Eldar kicked up a fuss that it was cheating that it was easier to hide, but the tournament judges just said, it's a GW model, on the base it was supplied on. Deal with it; anyone with a model that old gets to have a small advantage.

That will make me quit the game entirely if that happens.

The solution is having a gaming club or group.

I never play at a GW store for a few raisons:there is never enough place, its overcrowded with a bunch of guys who put there stuff on the tables without playing...

Where i life,at the GW Store from the Brussel, there's a chick, nice girl, and all,but what makes me tick off is that when she is learning to a newbie how to play, she is bitty and seems upset for some reason...

She was unable to teach properly the kid how's things done, and was rabmling an lot of nonsense and making the stuff more difficulte for the kid...

I then decide to give a hand, because i am someone really patient,as i see that she is not...

After 10 minutes of tutoring the kid,he finaly gets a grip of the basics rules and stuff, and all of the sudden she ask me to leave them alone because i make it more difficult with two peoples explaining him!!!,seriously wtf?...

So next time you have that guy who tells you that you can leave the shop because of your OOP models,be smart...give him a good kick in the nuts,it will refresh his mind a bit...
