hi all!

i tried to find something about this but couldnt, maybe i missed an obvious rule somewhere...

if i have a 10 strong chaos termies squad i know i can still get a LR as dedicated transport. but can you still hold them in reserve and deep strike? then the LR moves in from a table edge? do you roll separatly?

and also ...

in DOW rules, it says you deploy 2 troops and UP TO 1 hq .. lets say you have 2 troops of 10 in rhinos. do you have to deploy a squad and its transport or can you deploy both troops and have both transports roll in on turn 1??

thanks a lot

Yes, this is fine. There is NO inherent requirement for you to be able to deploy in the vehicle if you buy a DT, and nothing stops you deploying the LR somewhere and holding your termies in reserve. Page 67

See above - the ONLY restriction you have with DT is only the unit that bought the transport can deploy in it - they dont *have* to deploy in it.

From memory, you can deploy up to two troops and an HQ in DOW rules, and in this instance you can only place one rhino and one squad on the table. As to why, read the example in the BRB about dawn of war.

As Nos said.

1. You can DS the termies or start them on the table outside the LR. You can deploy the LR on the table or put in reserve and have it drive on. You are perfectly free to do any combination of these things.

2. Pick any two units which come from the Troops part of your Force org. This could be two squads, two empty rhinos, a squad and their rhino (separately or embarked), a unit of Death Company and a Death Company Dreadnought, or whatever.

So for DoW Purposes, a dedicated trasnport for a tac squad counts as a troops choice in and of itself?

Yes.

e: If you want to be more technical, you don't deploy Troops choices in DoW, you deploy Troops units. Dedicated Transports count as being a 'unit' of whichever FoC slot the unit they're dedicated to is bought from.

It is not a troops CHOICE in and of itself; it is a troops UNIT that is part of the troops choice of the unit thaty bought it.

All choices are units, but not all units are a single choice.

No worries - you just need to disassociate "choice" and "unit" they're not always identical. DoW cares about Units, not choices.

Praxiss- Just read "Multiple Unit Choices" on page 92, and the deployment example for DoW on page 93, over and over until it makes sense.
