Here are my 1850 Ork lists I've been reasonably successful with. I'm looking just to tweak it and see if I have any ill-spent points. I look forward to hearing what I might change. I've used both interchangeably, depending on mood, but they are reasonably similar. Tell me which you think is best, or what you might do instead.

LIST 1:

HQ

Ghazghkull Thraka - 225 pts
Big Mek with KFF - 85 pts

TROOPS

5x Nob (1: Klaw, 2: Waaagh Banner, 3: Bosspole, 4: Painboy, 5: Stock), 'Eavy Armor, Cybork Bodies - 225 pts
Battlewagon Dedicated Transport, Deffrolla, Red Paint Job, Armor Plates, Big Shoota - 135 pts
20x Slugga Boys, Nob with Klaw and Bosspole - 160 pts
20x Slugga Boys, Nob with Klaw and Bosspole - 160 pts

ELITES

5x Nob (1: Klaw, 2: Waaagh Banner, 3: Bosspole, 4: Painboy, 5: Stock), 'Eavy Armor, Cybork Bodies - 225 pts
Battlewagon Dedicated Transport, Deffrolla, Red Paint Job, Armor Plates, Big Shoota - 135 pts
8x Lootas - 120 pts
8x Lootas - 120 pts

HEAVY SUPPORT
Battlewagon, Deffrolla, Red Paint Job, Armor Plates, Big Shoota - 135 pts
Battlewagon, Deffrolla, Red Paint Job, Big Shoota - 125 pts

Total: 1850

Ghaz rides with one group of Nobs in a Wagon with Armor, Big Mek rides with the other group of nobs in an armor plated Wagon, providing 4+ to all 4 vehicles. Lootas sit in cover and pop transports, Deffrollas run into stuff and krump it but good. Nobs and Boys hop out and make a mess of anything that didn't go boom.

List 2:

HQ

Ghazghkull Thraka - 225 pts
Big Mek with KFF - 85 pts

5x Nob (1: Klaw, 2: Waaagh Banner, 3: Bosspole, 4: Painboy, 5: Stock), 'Eavy Armor, Cybork Bodies - 225 pts
Battlewagon Dedicated Transport, Deffrolla, Red Paint Job, Armor Plates, Big Shoota - 135 pts
20x Slugga Boys, Nob with Klaw and Bosspole - 160 pts
20x Slugga Boys, Nob with Klaw and Bosspole - 160 pts

ELITES

7x Lootas - 105 pts

Similar strategy. Ghaz with Nobs in Armor plated Wagon. Mek in a second with boys in armor plated wagon. Larger count of boys and a few more lootas. Same number of wagons but armor on one less.

Let's hear it.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Standard Battlewagon list - couple of points worth considering.

1. Lootas aren't a good unit to use as point fillers. These come in recommended sizes of 5 or 15, with plenty of discussion all over Dakka of why that I don't want to rehash, but I'd drop them down to five apiece - there's use for the extra points.

2. Have you considered grabbin' klaws? One of my favorite tactics against Battlewagon Orks is to plop a raider or a venom one inch away from you after having moved flat out - right across your line. You can either try ramming through me (which gets dodged on a 3+), or splitting your formation and going around - losing KFF protection on a couple wagons, and definitely not getting far. I use grabbin' klaws and boarding planks on my wagons, because deffrollas don't always get the job done against skimmers. Eldar, Dark Eldar, Space Marine landspeeders, Tau piranhas, even freakin' Necron monoliths. They're worth taking.

3. I'm personally a fan of deffkoptas. I use two units of one - each with a twin-linked rokkit and buzzsaw for its ability to turbo-boost up the field and get a turn one charge on an enemy vehicle before its had a chance to move - or to assault long fangs or devastators (or broadsides or anything else) that might threaten my battlewagons.

4. I think two squads of nobs are awkward. I realize at this point that I'm almost advocating that you run my own list. =p Nobs are interesting. Sometimes I take them, sometimes I convince myself that I shouldn't take them. You have to spend and use nobs very carefully. You want them mashing up MEQs, and you don't really want them messing around with a lot of power weapons or monstrous creatures. Ideal targets are marine squads with one or no power weapons. Bad targets for them are terminators, Incubi, banshees, monstrous creatures, Mephiston....anything that you don't get to take a 5++ /4+ against, and while there may be a target for one of them...finding utility for two nob units on the field is definitely difficult, your boyz are better used for taking down terminators, Ghazghkull is better fit for monstrous creatures....in my opinion, that's where burna boyz fit in. I'm not afraid to throw a unit of burna boyz at TH/SS terminators, or at a monstrous creature, and their templates (especially out of a battlewagon) will take down a swarm better than anything else in the army. Everytime a unit of 5 terminators presents itself and I can plop 15 flamer templates over them and cause 75 hits, I'm gleeful. Ponder burnas.

5. 'Eavy armour and cybork bodies may be redundant. I'd drop the 'Eavy armour in favor of adding more points of killy potential somewhere. Like another powerklaw to your nobs.

6. Bosspoles on your nobs - in truth, I've never actually been a fan of bosspoles in my army when Ghazghkull is present, because generally speaking - when they're in a position to take leadership (from losing in close combat) - they're probably fearless because of Ghazghkull's Waaaugh! The turn I charge and any followup enemy action on their turn: Fearless.

7. And finally, just to be on the safe side, you might want to consider taking the count of your boyz down to 18. If you lose wagons, you still want your ICs to be able to mount up; Ghazghkull takes two spots, and I think you're better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the feedback!

I am not sold on 2 nob squads and I feel like I sacrifice to fit them in. I like having extra lootas, but I see your point there too.

In our Meta I end up seeing a ton of MEq and specifically a lot of Blood Angels. Two of my best buddies are big Blood Angels fans, one that's all he owns, the other plays everything and works for GW, so several people at the store play that as well.

Not sure if this changes or refines your feedback, but it certainly shapes things on my end.

While I wait for paint to dry (literally) I'll see about adapting some changes into my list, and wait for your response about marines

So here's a revision. I'm going to have to play test some to try out the burnas, and I worry about my anti-tank/transport shooting with the diminished lootas. I added a 6th nob with a second klaw because I had 45 points left over, I could have added I suppose 3 lootas, but I'm not sure that's even worth it.

What say you?
