You're looking for this building. It isn't the most impressive game spot in the entire world but they have nine tables set up and allow all types of wargames. Their on-hand stock is pretty lean but they do orders so if you want anything bring an army so you can throw down with people.

With so many hobby stores in the Seattle area closing, this is a bit of good news.

Have you updated the dakka store finder to reflect closing stores or this store? (click store finder in the main navigation). We just hit 600 open stores worldwide, so getting closer and closer to covering all of them!

Check out our new, fully plastic tabletop wargame - Maelstrom's Edge, made by Dakka!

HELL YEAH. There were exactly zero gaming stores with good tables in central Seattle since Game Wizard closed, and then when Fire and Sword went down even the farther neighborhoods were barren. Being able to get a game on, then stash one's army and go get a drink or see a show _without_ having to drive is really, really great. I frigging HATE driving to the eastside for a game, especially because going out for a beer at some chain restaurant afterwards is depressing. BTW, the Stumbling Monk just downhill on Olive is a really, really good european beer bar.

One word of warning to all coming from the 'burbs to Capitol Hill: If you leave your figs in your car, cover those cases up- especially if they're GW hardcases. Seattle doesn't have much violent crime, but junkies will do a smash-and-grab on a car if they think the rewards will be good. Black hardcases look like tools or guns, which are definitely worth a junky's time. I learned this when I bought a hot army at a pawnshop (found the original owner, fortunately).

See you all at this spot soon. And I'll be buying all my stuff at full retail through these guys to support 'em.

Is Friday the 40K night at this joint?

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Nifty! Only a mile from where I work. I'll have to head up there some lunchtime and scope it out.

Swung by there today. Fellow who owns the joint is very nice, tables are plentiful and the terrain is good, and they have the 40K basics (more than your average gamestore which happens to carry some GW stuff, like Gary's Games). Highly recommended for Warmahordes/40K players. They have a big Malifaux contingent too, apparently. No Infinity apparently, but that just takes an interested couple of players.

They're also hosting tourneys for each system once a month. Tomorrow is the 40K tourney- 2K points, starts at 9:30 a.m. Some of the best Seattle-area players will be there. Were I not otherwise engaged I'd be there too (def not in the "best Seattle area players" category though, heh), but will certainly be there for the next one on April 2nd.

It's a cool place and the owners are extremely knowledgeable of wargaming. Especially Games Workshop history, products, and rules.

The store is in the back of the building. But once you walk in, there are a lot of good tables to play on. Plus couch, seats, paint area, and some food to buy. Another great bonus is there are empty rooms surrounding it which can be used for large events and tournaments.

Parking is a pain (it's downtown Seattle). So carpooling is a good way to go. There are parking spots if you look for them. And there are nearby paid parking as a last resort.

40k since 1994. Too many RTTs to count.

Awwwww yeah! Thanks for the tip, Savnock! Now I can play 40k all day with you, go to the bar and grab a drink, then get some food at In The Bowl and walk two blocks to the brother's for more gamin'.

Did you notice if they have Reaper minis? Because if they carry RPG minis, a certain Professor we know will now never leave the hill.

Very cool! I don't live in the area anymore, but in the NW it seems that for every game store that dies, another one pops up in its place. Fantastic.

It looks extremely difficult to get a parking spot that is within a block. Then the pay to park place looks like it is pretty far. Is it in a bad neighborhood?

I'm using the google maps street view tool

I'm de-lurking to respond, because I like this place.

I live about a block from there. Capitol Hill is actually a pretty upscale neighborhood and that building contains an antiques store, a dance school, a tattoo parlor and a hair salon. It's an older building, but there's plenty of space. There's a tournament happening this Saturday actually.

I've talked to both the owners, Darren is really cool and I've played against his new Tau army. He's a good sport and I enjoyed my game with him.

I've played against the other co-owners son and some guy named Chris who has some excellently painted Orkz.

Anyways, give it a shot. They carry a lot of stuff and they are just getting started, plus there aren't a lot of options, and I still hate the bunker. So if you want beers with your game and adult conversation rather than 13 year olds screaming and running around while some redshirt tries to sell you a box of Grey Knights, check this place out

They sell beer?! I wish I lived in Seattle. ;(

Though I guess I can get that at Guardian Games now. My regular group plays closer, at Red Castle.

Of, frak me! I'm going to be moving into the area in a year or so, for our big move from SD up to Bremerton and I'm more excited than ever, now! There's a reason to not hate life all that much, now, lol. That's just great news all around. Thanks for this, Breotan.

whidbey

played in the tourney yesterday and went 2-1. thanks to a squad of termis make 49 out of 50 saves as they ran across the board. these termis were owned by an old friend of mine that I haven't played in years.
I have known the owners for a few years and this will be my game store. I can just send him a pm and he will order what I want.

there is a paid parking place less then a block away which cost me $6 for ten hours. capital hill is pretty safe but like anywhere in seattle. the smash and grab can be a problem.

I will jump in real quick as the owner of said new store - Seattle Wargaming Center.

To clarify a few points...

there are 11 permanent tables inside a 1000sqft space with 25ft ceilings. Very open and comfortable to play in.

In respect of stock i was kind of taken back...

we bought out existing stock from 2 gamestores and ordered our own current releases - so i assume it was someone that visited prior to opening - or it looked sparse from the massive opening week we had.

We are a GW stockist (i.e. we carry there stockist line and have access to all product including direct order only and receive prize support for tournys and get early release items)

We hold current Malifaux/Warmahordes items in stock

Reaper is something we are looking into right now.

We are a Battlefoam stockist (as far as the i am aware the only one in Seattle area)

We have open gaming everynight, but are working on a structured calendar over the coming months.

Tournaments will be weekly - which i will post on our Facebook.

Your place sounds great. I'm moving towards playing only Malifaux at this point.. do you have any tournaments planned at the moment? Is there a specific night where you guys play malifaux?

OKais, what army are you playing, out of curiosity?

And is anyone interested in a Dakka meetup and game at this shop on Friday the 11th, say 6 pm?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and Nathonicus, no Reaper there sadly, so the traditional RPG types will probably stray elsewhere. Staying niche to tabletop games and doing it well is probably a really good idea for these guys. And let's face it, there are so many dorks in this city that niche shops are probably both viable and sorely needed. I for one am tired of gaming in places that have no idea how to support tabletop games.

There's another shop in the area, Gamma Ray Games, that does the Reaper and traditional boardgame thing quite well. Both stores do WarmaHordes, but this new joint has way more tables and a MUCH more open/pleasant gaming space.

Oh and @Wadders- Thanks for taking the leap on opening this place, looking forward to being a patron.

Personally I'm very excited for this new store as I live a mile away and have known both of the owners for several years now. The normal space is awesome with 11 tables, 3 of which are laid out for Malifaux. They have access to a lot more space so large tournaments are easily done and I know they hope to put on some large events in the future. As I understand it, the current plan is to run a weekly tournament for Malifaux, Warmachine/Hordes, 40k, and Fantasy each month. The only issue is parking, being Capital Hill, but not impossible. For people taking the bus, it's right on the 43 and 8 and very close to several others.

As Darren (Wadders) said, right now it's open gaming with plans in the future for more structured nights. Most Malifaux players have been showing up on Friday nights.

Darren is very reliable when it comes to ordering stuff. I've already placed several orders and have had them the next time I show up at the store. Generally a week at the most, depending on when you place the order.

As far as the clientele, most people there are fairly decent and knowledgeable. Several people, especially Darren, have a very good grasp on tactics and list building and can offer some good advice for players of several systems. Most of the core group are refugees from Fire and Sword.

My guess is that the primary game being played will depend on the next upcoming major tournament, especially TSHFT. Most people will be playing lists to get ready although 40k will always be strong. But with so much space it shouldn't be a problem playing whatever you want. With the release of the orcs this week, I strongly suspect we'll see an upswing of Fantasy being played.

I'm looking forward to many nights spent gaming at this new location and highly recommend it to everyone. Tell them Swoop sent you!

Swoop!

There will be a malifaux tourny towards the end of March (26th tentative).

Thanks again to everyone on the kind words and reviews. It really is warming to know the hours i put in are worth it!

I'll be sure to post tournaments on here as well.

Sorry about the Threadmancy here.

I just moved to Seattle and found this place. I met Darren today and had a nice long chat with him. Seattle Wargaming seems like the place I'd like to play at.

I need help with parking. I just moved to Seattle and parking is definitely a big issue. I saw Seattle Wargaming's Facebook page on parking but it is incomplete. I would like to hear suggestions from the locals on where I can find parking. I think I will ride my motorcycle until it gets too cold to ride, so motorcycle parking would be best for me.

Thanks
