How big are you planning on making this? If it's just going to be the size of large RTT then I probably wont make it out since it's a 3 hour drive, but if it's a full blown 50+ person GT with good prizes I might just come up for it.

First off, we're setting our date back a bit as to present a better event for everyone!

We're aiming at having a 64 person NOVA event ready to go the weekend of the 18th of June.

More details will be posted on the website presently for hotel information, registration, payment methods, & prize structuring.

And just remember that Dave will be running the 40k section of the Colonial GT! At this GT we will handing out a ticket to his Brothers Grimm GT! Dave has a great reputation for running events. Unless something comes up I will be at this event.

The Grim Open will be rewarding the Tournament Ace (the person who goes 6-0) and Renaissance Man (Best Overall Rating based on the NOVA formula) invitations to The NOVA Invitational Tournament 2011, which is a 5-round hardcore competitive 40k tournament happening at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, near downtown Washington, DC on the Friday before the major NOVA Open 8-round 256 person GT, on August 26 of this year in .

For those who don't know, The NOVA Invitational will be awarding a $1,000 cash prize to the 5-0 Best General (Tournament Champion) and a $1,000 cash prize to the 50% competitive / 50% appearance high scoring Best Overall (Renaissance Man). Thirty Two spots, 5 rounds, one day, arguably will be the toughest competitive field in the country, followed of course by the even tougher, but much larger 40k GT that weekend.

Pictures of the Trophies for the event will be posted shortly

Greg make sure youre clear that the Grim event isnt giving out the 1000 cash prize... that the NOva is. The Grim is just giving tickets to the NOVA. Its clear from context because you mention 5-0 when your event has 6 games... but someone reading fast might get confused and yell about it . I owe you a phone call about NOVA as well, got your message been busy and wonky last few weeks, whats a good time to call you back?

Also as a small Aside this is the same weekend as the THrone of Skulls... GW's forgettable invitational event I believe. Not that many people are excited about traveling to vegas for a not real tournament... but tis something to consider if youre counting on some of those top player who got tickets to that.

I would absolutely be there if I wasn't already going to Vegas.

OrdoSean: We know it's the same weekend as the Throne of Skulls.
Some folks expected to be play in a competitive style GT that weekend. When GW completely dropped the ball, we decided to provide a that gaming option with a NOVA Format GT. Heck, with The NOVA Open right around the corner, this would be a great chance to test your 2000pt lists right before the big show.

Yeah Im excited Ill be there of course.

I just know the guy running the Boston Brawl had also originally scheduled his event for this weekend but then switched when he realized it was the same as the Vegas thing.

Very excited to test my Nova list. Gotta see how my 6 tactical marines and 5 scouts hold up at 2000pts.

Here's an example of one of the prizes for Best Painted and Best Sportsman.
In addition, we're lining up atleast 5 tickets to the Warstore Weekend, in addition to the NOVA invites

Now if I can only find the time to get out to the store.

Seriously, I live 30 minutes away. You'd think that my schedule for work would also include some play time!

Here's the trophy for Tournament Ace. It's tad over 3 feet long if I remember correctly.
We also have our room block at the nearby Marriott set. Exact details to follow this weekend but it's 129$. That may seem high for some, but that's a great price for Long Island. Regardless, to help compensate, we didn't want the GT ticket above 50$

At a NOVA Format GT, the Best overall (Battle/Paint/Sports; all weighted equally) is the top prize.
And to reflect that, here's a pic of the Renaissance Man Trophy, in addition to a more customary plaque

Well, first off, let me apologize if this question has asked, this blackberry's screen is so small...

Painting, will it be required? I would love to attend, but I'm not sure if I can paint enough for the nova, let alone the Grim. Pretty sure it's required, but this event looks too awesome.

Even if it wasn't, who would want to attend a GT unpainted? Whenever I play against a stranger I bust out my best-painted stuff. I'd be too embarassed to field unpainted. I got 1000pts done in about a week prior to Adepticon. Spray primer, simple clean basecoats and GW washes are your best friends.

Any info on how this is filling up? I'm still trying to lock down the time from work, but don't want to miss the boat if you're nearing capacity!

I just bought my ticket last night! The Black Dragon's Deathwing will be in attendance, though I dont think my army is nearly nice enough for that Black Dragon axe prize... I gotta learn to paint better!

Just a quick update for everyone;

We do require painting, but it needs to only be the 3 color minimum with some flocked bases.

When you go to make your hotel room reservations, you will need to call the Courtyard in order to use our group code. The code does not work online.

The round time will be changing to 2 hours, 30 minutes!

Thanks,
-- Dave
