Synaptic Blast is a psychic shooting attack with the following profile: Weapon................................Range.............Strength...............AP..................Special....... Synaptic Blast..........................90"...................10.....................2..............Heavy 1, 7" Blast....... - The Terror: The Dominatrix can sometimes invade the mind of its enemies, causing them to see horrible visions of fear and overwhelming despair. Select any enemy unit within 36". That unit suffers from -3 Leadership until the start of the next Dominatrix turn. Warp Barrier: The psychic presence of the Dominatrix creates a thin barrier of psychic energy over its thick, durable carapace. Warp Barrier grants a 4+ Invulnerable Save. I like it, I like it a lot.
This is my only issue though:
- Warp Explosion: The Dominatrix creates a pyshic pulse that causes its enemies to break out in violent seizures as its overbearing power penetrates their minds. Any enemy unit within 12" of the Dominatrix takes a number of wound according to the amount of models in the unit. These automatically hit and always wound on a 3+, no armor saves aloud.
This seems horrendously overpowered. Maybe if you change it so that it only happens when it dies or when it fails a psychic test (maybe both).

This is supposed to be the Tyranid equivelant of the Warlord Titan.
The Tyranid Hierophant has:
T9 and 10 Wounds
WS5 or 6 (can't remember which)
BS4
And 16 Strength 10 shots
And it's only 1250 points.
It's Apocalypse, bud. A 2000 point Apocalypse unit. What were you expecting? And if you even read the other posts, you would see that I'm going to change the Warp Explosion. This is not that drastically more powerful than most 2000+ point Apocalypse units, especially most of the Imperial Titans.
Honestly, I don't care if you'd allow it in an Apoc game. With your attitude, I wouldn't want to play with you, period. Please, go troll another topic, and read the forum rules while you're at it.

Id have to agree with formosa here.
Because a Big Red F*** You button isnt needed in ANY army, even Apoc.
Stripping units of fearless is one thing. Stripping an ENTIRE ARMY of one of their unique special rules is Totally Broken.

The rules you have written have singled out and shut down just about everything that poses a challenge to a Nid army (units that dont runn off or die in the face of overwhelming numbers, wargear that shuts down or makes psychic powers). so maybe instead of proposing rules to make an apoc game a cake walk, you should focus on improving your playing style. So I suppose a Warlord titan that can drop an ungodly number of strenght D pieplates every turn is perfectly legitimate. I understand it's powerful, but considering the number and variety of nasty things you see on the Apoc Table (I'm looking at you, Imperial Titans), I hardly think it's THAT overpowered.
How have I eliminated all threats to a Tyranid army? I hardly think the loss of Fearless, Stubborn, and ATSKNF is going to be a gamebreaker in an Apoc game. Considering the number of Titans, strength D weapons, pie plates, massive gunlines, and orbital bombardments you see on Apocalypse tables, I think you're overreacting a bit.
Beyond that, only units within 24" of her lose those rules. The concept of someone's entire army being within 24" of the Dominatrix is an extreme longshot, considering the size of Apocalypse forces and the size of the gaming tables inherent in an Apocalypse game.
Also, what a datasheet has to do with my playstyle is beyond me. The fact that I made this datasheet does not automatically mean I am making it just so I'm unbeatable. I made this datasheet because I think the other Armies (in this case, Tyranids) need something that can act as their very own Warlord Titan. Since, you know, the Imperium has a monopoly on the most powerful Apoc units in the game.
But of course; as soon as a non-Imperium army gets something that could be considered a bit overpowered, it's totally ludicrous. Play an Apoc game with a few Reaver or even one Warlord titan and see how many guys you have on the table after turn two. My guess is less than a third of what you started with.

The issue is not that he didn't like the rules. The issue isn't that he "naysayed" me. The issue is that he was blatantly arrogant, rude, and offensive in his expression of said distaste. He said nothing constructive. "This is bad, this is bad, this is worse than those threads, do it all over." He never once offered reasoning for why it was bad or why he thought things should be changed. Instead, he chose to be a troll and blatantly ignore rule number one. Then when I called him on being rude, he replied with a snide and condescending message. I'm sorry if I have little to no interest in hearing or being subjected to anyone with that poor an attitude.
You actually provided reasonings for your distaste. He did not.

Overall, I like it. Though FYI, the hierophant bio-titan is only BS3. The only thing I think makes this creature a little too powerful is its ability to give all friendly tyranid units within 48" Eternal Warrior. That just makes the army too difficult to kill IMO. I realize there's a surplus of strength D weaponry out there, but I think GW took Eternal Warrior away for good reason. I'd recommend you probably reduce it to 24" or limit it to 2D6 units within 48" gets the USR or just get rid of it altogether. Just my thought.
BTW, I've created rules for my own Dominatrix as well (found here).

Yeah, the EW thing needs to be toned down, 34" or less. 48" is just....too much, even for Apoc.

The EW effects warriors and broodlords really, with addition to Zo's and some of the character units.
the only prob i see is doom with EW. but in apoc its not a deal. Automatically Appended Next Post: Rather than just flat out granting EW, id give a leadership check to ignore instant death.
even after the FAQ the Doom is still pretty mighty. giving him (it?) EW is a lil much. but with a Ld check, with his (it's?) unmodified Ld check of 10 gives it a pretty good chance of durviving a lascannon or a railgun, while not leaving an opponent shafted.

Although Dominatrices are, like all other Tyranid entities, genderless, they are normally reffered to as a "she" because:

1. a woman who is the dominant sexual partner in a sadomasochistic relationship
2. a dominant woman
[from Latin, fem of dominātor, from dominārī to be lord over]
This reflects how the Dominatrix is the dominant Tyranid creature on the battlefield (being the lord over the Hive); acting as a sort of "brood mother". It's similar to how Orks are typically reffered to as "he" despite their genderless status.

I'll agree that nids should not be denied the chance to have a warlord equivalent. Titans are indeed full of win, but only having the one (hierophant) versus say, 3 kinds leaves a gap for some Killy gribbly goodness. My only add on suggestion to this would be a tervigon-like death penalty to surrounding units. I know you've sort of covered it, but I'd your changing that then keeping in some kind of apocalyptic damage upon dying would add balance for the naysayers. would you consider adding any carapace hive style things just to add a bit of close in dakka. Or is that going too far?
