Subject: Acryl glass Bases, would they look good?

I am think about giving my next army clear transparent acryl glass bases.
This way the bases would fit every table they are on, an I imagine it could look cool, and make the minitures look more like soldiers, less than toys.

Can you give us a link to this product, so we can see what it looks like?

I've seen a few models with these sorts of bases and they look pretty cool.
Though you have to be careful sticking the models on as the glue could fog the clear plastic of the base.

You just have to be careful and use only the smallest amount needed.
And do it in an area with VERY GOOD through ventilation.
On the plus side, they will blend better with any table. On the minus, to me they will STILL look like toy soldiers regardless.
Even more toylike, actually. Seeing as I've seen "toy soldiers" on terrain bases for the last 30 years and to me that is "normal" for them.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Sure, I choose my words poorly, of course they should look like toy soldiers that they are, but the scene would more like a diorama.
I can`t send you a link yet.
Thanks for the hint with the glue, I had thought that too.

It'll be a bit tricky. Clear bases work better when thin and flat, but bases for 28mm figures that will be placed in uneven terrain need a bit more shape and substance to them. Look at several companies' bases - they all share a shallow, cup-like shape, because it's more stable on uneven terrain that a flat, solid base. Casting that shape solid in clear resin simply won't work as well, for two reasons: Practically, a flat base will be unstable and prone to scratching on the bottom. Aesthetically, the complex shape and thickness of the material are going to reflect and refract light, effectively destroying the "no base" illusion.
Clear bases only really work, in my opinion, when they are thin, flat bases for use on a smooth board or mat, like the various dogfighting/spaceship battle games out there. That said, definitely go for it, if you think you can pull it off. I'm all for experimentation, I just wanted to voice some (I think) legitimate concerns about the feasibility before you jump in, feet first. Be sure to post results, if/when you try it.
