Hi, please help clarify a few things for me.

A bound spell ie lvl 4 will need a roll of 4 to suceed, so even if 3 dice were thrown for a total of say 10, the 'total' is still 4?

If so, as a dwarf, you would only need a 2 to stop it due to +2 to dispel?

Against a bound level 3, would a roll of 1 stop it, or is 1 an auto fail (like everything else)?

Finally, can this really mess up an OK magic phase due to the low numbers to cast and the dwarfs +2?

Thanks for your attention.

Whatever the total of the power dice you roll happens to be is what the defending player will need to roll to dispel. In your example, they will need a 10 or higher.

To dispel, your natural dice total (aka before any modifiers) needs to be a 3 or higher or it automatically fails regardless of the final value. The Dwarf player will have to roll a 3+ on a single dice before adding any modifiers just like everyone else.

This is why you do not see many single dice casting and dispelling attempts anymore, you have a straight 1/3 chance of failure and that wizard not being able to cast or dispel the rest of the phase. No, this would not keep the dwarf player from getting a +2 if he failed on subsequent attempts as it is the army attempting to dispel, not an individual wizard.

Ok, I sort of understand.

So even a bound lvl 4, a dwarf needs to match the enemy cast value, but a 2 would not suffice as this is a fail (even if they rolled a 4 on 1 dice). So really a dwarfs +2 advantage lessens the more dice are used by the opponent.

Yes, the bound level of the item is just what they need to roll in order to activate the item, not what power the item operates.

A natural 1 or 2 (so a 1 or 2 on one dice, or double 1's on 2 dice) always fails to cast or dispel.
