Does anyone know what era of WD issues Adrain Wood ork articles and battle reports are in? I really dont want to dig through 250 issues of WD to look issue by issue. Thanks

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

My first issue was 201, i kind of view this as the "golden age" of WD. Paul Sawyer and Adrian Wood were both great, and I feel WD was much better back then.

Maybe I'm just an overly nostalgic 25 year old though.

Nope, it was still a quality magazine then. I think the really good stuff was all before #150 but there was plenty of good material up to about #250 give or take the odd dull issue. After that it started to become more obviously advert orientated and self congratulatory to the detriment of actual gaming/hobby content and Chapter Approved would be the highlight.

He used to write and participate in battle reports during the late 90s mostly according to my recollection. I started buying White Dwarf around number 157 and remember he played in the battle report for that issue.

It started going downhill during the 40k 4th ed period.

Still, the 'quality' issues are generally pre-250.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Haha..

Best ever SM vs. Ork Bat rep I would say has to be issue 166 (October 1993). Came with a free marine or ork, damn I read that magazine so many times it practically fell apart!

http://www.gamehobby.net/white_dwarf_magazine/white_dwarf_166.html

This bat rep was so iconic, part of the battle (Andy Chambers' Captain Tycho getting brain-popped by Jervis Johnsons' Orc Weirdboy on turn 1) actually became an established part of the background in future BA codecies

There was a battle report he did with his ork horde (with those quality dreads he made) somewhere after the gamesday with "battle of big toof river". Set in a zulu style last stand with the (then new) pretorian models and various oddball (hook anyone??)

well worth a look

Sadly I never made that gamesday, much my annoyance. Was it the same one where they had that massive empire town being wiped out by zombies?

Are they both still at GWHQ??

I saw it at GWHQ not Gamesday, the one in the city was built a year or two later by someone I now work with oddly enough. Sadly they don't have them any more, they have the miniatures display area but all the dioramas and "life size" stuff is gone.

I assume people had the models off them because those are worth something, unless they were specifically prevented from having the minis. But the displays themselves were definitely broken up.
