I'm scratch-building a war engine and it's a ginormous secret, hence the subject title. I need to scratch-build a convincing (not to mention large) engine and I am running into a massive wall. I can't say what race it's for, or what kind of war engine it is... there are spies at the FLGS that frequent this forum...

So, I could use pics of scratch-built war engine, ummm, engines...

Ambiguous post is Ambigous.

How can we help when you give no hint on what kinda engine your getting at, human and eldar tech differ vastly for instance.

If it's an engine you need take a look at ork vehicle for their engine blocks.

Have a look a real engines.

Or alternatively put some cloth or a cover over the engine so you don't need to model that bit!

Have to say if it is such a big secret, why make the post? It sounds like you are very excited about this project - maybe that's why. But you say you've run into a wall, but we don't know what problem you are precisely having - or perhaps you have not yet started construction?

Please throw us a little more information - and if you just want to look at pictures of Superheavies, I am sure a friendly Dakkite can provide a few pics and links.

how big of an engine? Why not just look into the scale V8 revell makes, or just stealing the engine out of one of the larger car kits. Better yet go to your local toy shop and look for those car toys with GIGANTIC OVER THE TOP CHROME engines, you know what I'm talking about.

Yeah I have no idea what on earth you mean, the smart thing to do would have been to make a new forum name and post it as an anonymous, though you can't do that anymore, because people know it's you, I suggest you do what Foda suggested.

Ever think of going to your model shop and buying a hot rod,60/70's muscle car, or model of working engine?

Quit being so vague and ACTUALLY ask a question if you want people to help?
lame...

Dang, guys. How totally right you all are. What a fail question. Ok. I'll try to elaborate as much as i can...

The War Engine is a robot-type, meaning it has feet rather than wheels or treads. It has visible engine-y parts, so it isn't Eldar. Think more along the lines of power plant than hot rod engine block.
I'll try looking into some steampunk pics. I never thought about the stand-alone engine models from Revell, etc. I might be able to dissect one of them. I think I'll have a look at those, too.

THANK YOU!

Steampunk eh? Very nice, ever think of something akin to the WFB steam tank plumes? Those are rad. Maybe combine those+dred exhaust engine but on a bigger scale, more glockwork and pulleys
