You can get Melta guns form the GW site or a bitz box website if you need loads of em.

Best bet is to try ebay, and just buy lots of 5.

I second GW's site. They have the cheapest meltaguns (metal), even compared to bitz sites.

Well I was specifically wondering what kit would contain the most melta's I have yet to find any GW kit that has more than 1 in the box.

Hmm, but do the metal one match up to the current ones on plastic in terms of quality and practicality (weight, conversions, pinning)?

Yeah GW actually has a good deal on metlas and plasma.

Don't tell them I said that.

I don't believe any kit has more than one.

Not sure why you would want a kit to do it when 5 Meltaguns are $8.00 through GW.

They are great quality and are metal, so take that as you will for conversions. They come with a hand attached, which I find to be easy to chop off. They also have a stock, which a lot of people like to chop as well.

Sorry, it was a confusing question. I understand that the best deal is to get the metal kit. I just wanted to know the answer to the question. We were debating it earlier.

No idea then. I'm going to go with 'One' and tons of different kits all have one.

I personally hate putting metal weapons on plastic models - it unbalances them. But there are no plastic meltas to be had out there - all the bits suppliers are out of stock. And if you want a Descent of Angels army you need LOTS of meltas. (and there's none at all on the Assult Squad sprue). It's almost as though GW don't actually want you to build armies that can win against armour....

GW blister for cheap, but metal so difficult to convert, or The War Store for expensive, but plastic, so easy to convert.

As others have suggsted, I'd go with the metal ones. If you go that way, definitely invest in a razor saw and possibly a second set of clippers if you don't already have them.

A razor saw will cut through metal like butter and might be all you need. I use clippers when just a rough cut is needed or it's a part that won't show as its faster than sawing, but even soft metal will chew up your clippers over time, so it's best to have a second set just for clipping metal.

As Ailaros aludes to, if you approach converting metal with the same tools as plastic, you may be in for some frustration.

Not bad looking; however, you have to buy a minimum of $25 dollars worth of stuff. So make sure you add 5 sets of meltas!

I've been wanting to try out shapeways.com for a while now. Primarily since I'm considering using them to make up some 3D parts I need for a non-40K project of mine. All said and done I ordered 6 sprues of 4 meltas (24 melta guns). Works out to be around ~$26 USD. Breaks down to around ~$1.09 a bit this way.

Lonecoon,

Since you made this model have you purchased the bits yet? If so do you have a comparison picture to the "official" GW bit?

search for 40k bits on ebay, I've gotten so many meltas and plasmas that I'll probably never use them all. The cheapest ones are from the black templar and dark angel sprues, but all you have to do is shave off a couple of icons if they bother you

To buy the most melta guns you will probably want to go to the GW store and enter a very large number next to the meltagun bits pack. This will ensure that you have bought the most melta guns.

Did you change something with your model since you purchased them?

Shapeways canceled my orders saying that their were to many details, which were to small to produce.

I dont know what kit nets the most Meltas....I doubt there would be more than 1 in any kit. I would recommend going to ebay and buying them separately

4250 points of Blood Angels goodness, sweet and silky W12-L6-D4
1000 points of Teil-Shan (my own scheme) Eldar Craftworld in progress
800 points of unassembled Urban themed Imperial Guard
650 points of my do-it-yourself Tempest Guard
675 points of Commoraghs finest!

No, I got an email from them today saying they changed their process and that models that were getting printed before are going to be rejected from now on. I'm kind of pissed at Shapeways because their model detection is terrible. I'm probably going to go with Sculpteo from now on, as at it won't even let you order models it can't print.
