So, I have very slowly been building my first army (Khorne/Nurgle CSM) since last early 2010, with things grinding to a halt when my son was born last fall.
But since mid january I have been playing again, and so the desire to paint and model has returned.
My first conversion sort of developed out of necessity, as most chaos players seem to agree, the current Obliterator models
are humorous at best, or as I see them, just plain bad.
Now I know that mine are not very fluffy, but the standard way of just adding greenstuff goo to Terminators was not my cup of tea.
So when the River Troll box set got released, I saw raw potential in their misshapen bodies
Et Voila, my first (of three) Nurgle Obliterator, ready for primer and paint:

Now I intend to use this thread for future projects, and will update and perhaps showcase my full army here when I can get a hold of a decent camera

If there is any odd spelling or grammar, I might add that english is not my first language

A good start, however you need some recognisable weapons growing out of it, just nurgliness only means it's a spawn or possessed at best. It should also have some vestigal armor left, a small indication that the beast use to be a Chaos Space Marine.

+10 awesome bonus for using the "new" plastic river trolls as base for Nurglesque Obliterators, -5 modifier for not making it Obliterator-esque enough.

Advice: Sculpt fused armour plates into the flesh, add a few guitar strins/wires and add a few more guns... might use some tubing to create a "barrel of pus" situated its back with hoses that run from the barrel into the gun-arm..

My inspiration was the forgeworld Mamon character, so no armour plates or actual energy weapons, I like the Pus-cannon concept. It had a Citadel barrel on the back in an early version, but it never really looked right at that size.
The next one will absolutely have more cybernetics and hoses, maybe I can find a flamer canister or similar to contain the nasty

Obliterators need weapons. Lots and lots of weapons, just my personal stance.

I'd advise a bit more work with GS before you prime em. Love the idea of trolls though. Here is an Obliterator project I am working on.

The armour can be neglectable but, as Wiggin said, you need more gunz. Obliterators are more or less guns with a body attached, rather than a body with guns attached.

Great model base, i had not thought of using the river trolls like that and you made them look great !
i dont know if you need more armor plates
but i do agree with more guns at least more barrels on the gun arm.

Painting in progress. My goal was to make something that would make it wysiwyg (Powerfist and Energy weapons) without literally having one of each weapon,
the idea being that he changes what his tube fires, as (kinda) described in the codex. He is also slightly bigger than a GW Obliterator, so no modeling to advantage here

Very nice indeed. I cant even tell where you applied putty. Given his stature though, he looks like he could almost be a Daemon Prince.

I like him, a nice minimalist approach, which I prefer for Obliterators - the stick as many guns on as possible approach always looks crap imho.

Looks awesome. Easily recognized as nurglich oblit. Imo the weapon he has is enough, altho everyone cant tell at first what unit is, i presume. Only thing im not too fond of is the head. it could be more scifi , if you know what i mean hehe.

Pls do the whole unit like that!

Yep! Was not that hard when I figured out in which order to do the holes, cuts and "sutures"

I think you could satisfy everyone's lust for guns by using some tyranid weapons...bit of greenstuff would fuse them right in there...
