I am thinking about making a Diorama for 40k and although the GW scenery looks good it is a bit pricey to buy several buildings. So does any one know where to get alternative scenery from or where I can get bits to make up my own. I am looking for gothic style ruins similar to a ruined abbey. If any one can help I would be very grateful. Cheers.

Definately get some pegasus hobbies gothic stuff.

I think a bunch of 3rd party websites sell it but here is their own site:

And here's the two buildings I built with one box (which is half the price of a GW kit)

Seconding them.

Half of my city terrain is Pegasus Gothic stuff.
The other half is scratchbuilt or kitbashed.

I have ONE GW CoD ruin set.

Pegasus for the win. Fantastic terrain and very affordable.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Awesome cheers Guys that is exactly what I was after and a fraction of the GW price. They actually look better as well.

I am also looking for some ruined city terrain for a new table I am building. Saw this thread and have a question about the pegasus stuff.

WHat material is the terrain made of? Is it plastic, resin, or is it a hard cardboard type material that clips together?

Any info would be great!

The Pegasus ruins (and most of their terrain) are very dense (and thick) plastic. For functional terrain, they are great - if you want some bigger ruins get the ruins kit and a gothic building kit together.

Do you guys have an online realtor that you prefer for ordering the kits?

I can recommend the CoD sets as a basis for your terrain, they are flexible and look good.

As said, alternatives are

It's a denser polystyrene than GW uses (pieces are thicker) but it can still be glued together with regular plastic glue.
What makes them easier to assemble is that they are a tab/slot construction - and the ruins will hold together somewhat by themselves without gluing (but for best results, you are advised to glue them)

It should also be noted that floors do not come in the gothic building boxes. You will have to supply your own.
Plasticard can be found at many retailers who also handle model kits (sheet styrene) - I used a 12mm tile grid sheet for mine.

Hey guys, i recently bought some of the www.modelz4cheaper.com range of industrial scenery pack. £25.99 for 10 buildings and they look awesome! I also got some hills and cliffs from ebay which where pretty nifty although in the end you can't beat the old GW FOR

I like CNC workshop a great deal. The only downside (for a US person, anyway) is they ship from Australia, but they do seem to be carried in a few distributors. I've seen them in FRP games (though I do not, at all, endorse FRP games).
