Hi There,

In this Newsletter we have several more Cadian releases along with a reminder about the reservation process for the forthcoming Forge World Open Day. The keen-eyed will be able to spot an exclusive preview of our 2011 Event Only miniature as well.

Thanks,
Ead Brown

Cadian Hostile Environment Conversion Sets Now Available to Pre-Order
Cadian Hostile Environment SetsSupporting the Cadian Hostile Environment Conversion Set and Plasma Squad that we recently released are three more detailed upgrade kits, sculpted by Stuart Williamson, for use with the plastic Cadian range:

The Cadian Hostile Environment Melta Squad contains enough resin torsos to build three special weapons teams equipped with potent anti-tank melta guns, and is suitable for use with the full range of plastic Cadian kits.

The Cadian Hostile Environment Tank Crew contains three detailed resin tank commander figures, along with various weapon and equipment options. Each Hostile Environment Tank Crewman is suitable for use with the full range of Imperial Guard tanks produced by Forge World and Games Workshop.

The third Cadian release in this week’s Newsletter is the Cadian Hostile Environment Command Squad. This full resin set includes five Cadian infantry figures: a power fist-armed Senior Officer, a Guardsman equipped with a melta gun, a vox-operator, and two other Cadians armed with lasguns. The set also contains a scanner.

These new Cadian Hostile Environment sets are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing the 28th of March.

Forge World Open Day – Reservations Now Being Taken
The annual Forge World Open Day returns to Warhammer World here in Nottingham on Sunday the 3rd of April, and as it’s now only a month away we have some more information for you.

We are now taking reservation orders for the Open Day 2011, and this is the best way to ensure that we will have the exact models you wish to purchase. This year we have made a few changes to the ordering process to make it as quick and easy as possible for you to collect your reservation on the day.

In addition to the main Sales Stand, which will be packed with the full range of Forge World and Warhammer Forge resin kits, books and modelling supplies, there will be a separate Reservations area where these orders can be collected at any point throughout the day. We will be taking payment for reservations in advance for this year’s Open Day, which means that you’ll be free to enjoy the rest of the event at your convenience.
To place a reservation, please telephone the Forge World Customer Service Team on 0115 916 8177; we’ll need to take your name, the list of items you’d like to reserve and a contact e-mail address for you. You will also need your credit or debit card details handy, as we’ll charge your card there and then, and shortly before the Open Day you will receive a confirmation e-mail that will contain your order number. You must bring a copy of this with you in order to collect your reservation.

Space MarineThe Open Day will also be the very first time that our 2011 Event Only model will be available. This is an exclusive miniature that can only be purchased at the Games Days and other events that we attend, and this year we’ve decided to do things a bit differently – there will actually be two Event Only models for 2011!
As you may have noticed, there is a sneak peek of one of these miniatures to the left of this text, and we will be bringing you more details over the coming weeks.

The Forge World and Warhammer Forge studio teams will have their own separate areas at this year’s Open Day to best showcase the variety of different work-in-progress projects, future releases and unique display pieces that will be available for you to view. Our Studio and Book Design teams will be present throughout the day to answer your questions, explain our design process and maybe even let slip a few hints about our future plans...
Keep an eye on the Forge World events pages for more details.

Actually, the scanner operator is different too. He's not just holding a little clipboard, but it's a fully detailed auspex it looks like.

Plus: the torsos are different, featuring the backpack part and the commander has a different pose to him(the left arm is down at his side, rather than at the left side of his head talking into a voxset).

Just sayin'. They're not "the old one with new heads". There's some other details too.

any pics of the other cadians (command squad) that someone can post?

edit: nevermind... they're on the FW website now!

i think i like the old commander more. back in the old edition, the fact that he had a beard and looked physically older than Herr Klaus von Monocle made me want to use him as a senior officer.

Maybe, but they finished their releases for IA9+10.

Because clearly, that's what 'hostile environment' means. Parkas! Parkas everywhere!

Basically: they worded it this way so that it's not specifically tied to one environment.

Supposedly though, the backpacks include a heating system in there.

It's a very small difference from the originals to these.

Are they 'hostile environments'? Given that could mean anything from dinner at the in-laws to a world covered in ice, or jungles infested with whatever etc etc, they did not 'lie' or 'mislead' anyone no...

BUT, and correct me if I'm wrong here guys, I think most people complaining about them are simply complaining about the missed oppurtunity FW let pass them by by not doing something significantly different than a standard Cadian sillouette. People have been clamoring for longcoats forever, it was a good chance for that and other cool elements as well.

Unfortunately we are just victims of our own expectations boys, those are still damn fine looking minis. They just unfortunately aren't particularly finer or differentiated from FW previous Cadian offerings either. Which is a shame for everyone involved if you think about it.

The studs on the helmet and shoulder pads sneak peak look exactly like the MKIII armor that Forgeworld released late last year (I've painted 15 so far). Will this be a captain in MKIII armor?

If so, I want it!

I should clarify, originally I remember these being rumored as cold weather cadians hence the images (in my mind) of parkas. But even without my hopes up these are still a pass.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Especially because its for ten dudes, and I can buy the melta and plasma squads, so SUPER COOL ADAPTABLE stormtroopers.

Great looking new models, my only problem is that we could already buy gasmasks for cadians, the command squad looks pretty much the same as the old one and the same applies for the tank commanders.

Well, nice way to pick up some plasma guns I guess...

I'm waiting for them to fall over backwards and having trouble getting back up with all that gak strapped to their backs. Astartes with a load of gak on their backs I can get, but regular, if trained from birth to be the perfect soldier, men? Nope.

Also, that gunner from the tank crew is just plain stupid. Good luck crawling back into the turret with that bulky piece of gak hardware stuck to your back.

Clearly Brook, he's not allowed back in the tank.

And I don't know about the weight issue. It doesn't look heavier than the gear that firefighters wear, and they can get back up fine if they fall down(provided they're not trapped by a beam or knocked out, etc).

Correction. You could buy heads for the Cadians, which require a bit of work to make them fit perfectly.
These look a bit more 'teched-up' if you will.

Well, nice way to pick up some plasma guns I guess...

Not at all. Also Meltaguns, a unique looking commander, an objective piece, a Master of the Fleet/Ordnance...

The Command Squad alone lets you do up a lot of fun stuff there.

Trench coats!!! Must have trench coats!

Bleh. Trenchcoats are overdone.

I wish they would have done those backpacks seperate as that would be a great conversion bit for traitor guard.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Well he may be hurting trying to get back into the turret and to be honest it would probably make more sense to have something that connects to the inside of the tank but I guess they didn't think of that. However it does not look too heavy to realistically carry. Having been in the army for almost 10 years I can tell you that the full combat loads of soldiers can get pretty heavy 80+ pounds.

Crikey, even Cadian tank commanders get iPads now. Am I the only one who doesn't have one? If the Catachans get one then I will truly be the biggest loser in the tablet race.

I don't need any of these models. I'm not evern sure if I'll ever want them. But I'm glad they exist. These are the sorts of things that make me glad Forgeworld is in business.

Gotta agree with that though. But it wouldn't surprise me if there's a decree from Holy Terra demanding every crewman to have their personal equipment on hand AT ALL TIMES or face the penalty of death!

Not in combat, except at the Battle of the Somme, and we all know how well that went.

You can command your hostile environment troopers to enter a hostile environment battlefield without their gear. I'll tell mine to keep it on. We'll see who wins.
