Good afternoon one and all,
Firstly and apology that this was all not posted up at the end of February as per the rules pack and original intentions. This is due to a series of localised natural disasters at chez Skcuzzlebumm including his laptop and back up hard drive simultaneously blowing themselves up (whilst doing a back up) and therefore loosing everything including all the UK 40K GT details. Doh! is one way to sum that up.
Anyway everything is back and working again, we have pieced together everything again (good thing all the emails are saved) and its all good once more.
So with 18 days to go its is high time we got this final email update out to you all.
We have updated a finalised the FAQ document with a few minor additions: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
Just in case you have forgotten where to look you can find the Rules pack: CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
Next up due to the aforementioned disaster we have lost all the details regarding peoples dietary requirements. Therefore, and this is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, can anyone with any dietary requirements please send an email to: UK40KGT[at]GMAIL[dot]COM detailing what they are so we can make the caterers aware. Thank you.
Lastly as you should all be aware the deadline for army list submission is Saturday 12th March at 6pm!
All army lists MUST include your full name (ignore the part about ticket numbers) and a full break down of all the points and wargear WITHOUT ANY abbreviations.
ANY late entries will be deducted 10 tournament points WITHOUT exception.
You have all been warned!
Finally with regards to the GT weekend, many of the committee will be at Maelstrom from around 2pm on the Friday onwards. As a result once we have set some things up we will be able to register any players arriving early who are looking for pick up games, drinks, or to do a bit of shopping in Maelstrom. On that note Gary Moore and the lovely chaps at Maelstrom have asked us to pass on some information regarding the venue and what they have on offer which we have also posted up on the homepage: www.u40kgt.co.uk
So that is everything, please do not forget to pass on any details regarding dietary requirements and DO NOT FORGET to submit your army lists.
We look forward to seeing you at the GT and until then...

Good evening one and all
So the deadline for submitting your army lists is less than 24hrs away: 6pm tomorrow, Saturday 12th March.
Those people listed in the second post above still need to email their army lists in to UK40KGT[at]GMAIL[dot]COM
If your name is on this list, or one of your friends name is, then please make sure that you get your army list in by NO LATER than 6pm tomorrow, Saturday 12th March.
If your list is late and there is not a suitable excuse, like you were busy saving the world, then you WILL receive a 10 tournament point penalty.
So please don't be later as we don't want to have to penalise people (but we will if needs be).
Regards
"Stay Frosty"

From what I gather Mr Marsh aka Castigator is relishing the fact that no matter what he will be the number 1 Witch Hunter player.
Also hot off the press we are proud to show off the trophies players could win at next weeks UK 40K GT as modelled by the committee’s very own Kong and our new mascot Daisy (we will let you decide who is who). They are so shiny (as you can see) that we have even been supplied with specialist gloves to handle them so as to avoid getting great big dirty finger prints all over the lovely polished aluminium.

Those trophies are very very shiny. BIG thumbs up there
"special gloves" sounds like it should be a euphamism. But then so does "polishing the trophy".....
I wonder how many lash prince lists there are, and whether my double Khorne DP list is different to the rest...

Cheers guys!
Couldn't possibly comment on the army lists apart from to say that a surprising number of CSM lists do not conform to the usual net lists that you expect to see.
The next jobs we have to do is sort the pub quiz out (and arrange drinks vouchers for the winners)
We are also thinking about buying a load of spot prizes to give out over the weekend to players who achieve special challenges in the rounds:
i.e 1st player to get his HQ killed in combat. Or something silly like that.
That way even if you don't get one of those 5 trophies the plan is to have plenty of opportunities for players to win things just be being there and enjoying their game.
Surely that has to be a good thing?

Well as a bit of an update from the T/O's; we have finished checking all the army lists (when I say we I mean fellow gamers we forced to do it on our behalf). There were a couple of minor errors and 2 major ones, so if you are one of those who received and email regarding your list please can you ensure you have corrected and returned it to the committee no later than 6pm on Wednesday less you feel the wrath of a tournament penalty.
On the topic of lists we are pleasantly surprised with how many armies, both evil and good, are coming along with what looks to be the express purpose of harvesting as many skulls for khorne as possible. There are going to be some brutal match ups this weekend that is for sure. We are also a little shocked about how much Mephiston is getting around, obviously there was an exceedingly virile Milkman living on Baal around the time he was born. We are even more shocked at how many venom's one Dark Eldar player in particular is brining; you know who you are and you should be ashamed
In other news plans, regarding the mini spot prizes we are going to be handing out over the course of the weekend are coming along well. We have already come up with plenty of silly and fun criteria for players to win something, and there are more ideas still bouncing around. Though the committee is torn as to what gamers would prefer; models and gaming paraphernalia or party bags full of sweets and treats..... ?????
My devilishly difficult pub quiz is all ready. It won't just be about 40k but what it will be is fiendishly hard with a few comedy questions thrown in for a giggle. Obviously we are hoping everyone is going to join in, as with any other tourney it will be on Saturday evening after everyone is fed. Teams of 6 and a bonus prize for best team name so get thinking chaps and chappette.
Right that is about it, there have been a number of drop-outs this week, so if you have been emailed please make sure you get back ASAP otherwise we will pass the opportunity for a ticket onto someone else. If you haven't gotten your name on the reserves list but want to come. I can say that there is only 1 person left on said list so the odds are pretty good for still been able to get in that way - email or PM me for more details (but obviously this is not assured just a possibility).
Lastly we are going to be running a mini blog over the weekend here with updates of how the rounds are going, pics of the action and reports of anything noteworthy from the games.
So even if you are not going you can still keep up to date.
Otherwise we look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, remember you can register early in the afternoon/evening at Maelstrom when you come down for pick up games, or Saturday morning depending on your commitments.

Good.
Please ensure Mr. Marsh has a near constant supply of Merlot wine, and make sure Myles is reminded exactly how badly Newcastle UFC are doing whenever possible please.

Ok just got back to York (and ordered some Chinese food) after what has been both a very long, but very enjoyable weekend. Apology's for not doing any updates or posts about how things were going but myself and the rest of the committee have been rushed off our feet all weekend working hard to ensure the event was a success, which I gather it was from the vast amount of handshakes we received after the awards ceremony.
As I mentioned I will get a full breakdown of results out on email to all the attendees (and post the same here), together with pictures and the like, either tomorrow or Tuesday, but in brief:
1st = Paul Burke - Imperial Guard
2nd = Allen El-Sour - Orks
3rd = Josh Roberts - Imperial Guard
Best painted = James Karch - Space Wolves
Most Sporting = Jason Annette - Dark Eldar
CLICK HERE TO SEE THE FULL RESULTS SHEET INCLUDING ARMY BREAKDOWN
Once again thanks to everyone for attending, and the committee for giving up so much of their time for free to organise and run the event, all of which made the tournament such a huge and massive success.

That was a great event, as I said on the day -- many thanks for organizing it, guys! Roll on next year. I may even have my tyranids painted by then instead of bringing my DA again.
The Maelstrom / Eye of the Storm venue is excellent -- right up there with Warhammer World, I think (if anything, the terrain on the average Maelstrom is a little better than on the average WW table). Bugman's has better coffee though.

Over the coming week I will be collating and posting up pics from the weekend once I have received them all from Maelstroms in house photographer Stu "the Ginge".
As for full army lists. I myself am very much against posting peoples army lists up on the internet without their permission first, experience has taught me that some people prefer their lists remain off the internet. Therefore if individual competitors want to post what they used that is up to them but I will not be doing anything of the like.

I'll happily post mine, since it didn't do especially well (3 wins, 3 losses -- it seemed like ever time I got up to around table 18-20, I got knocked back down to the middle tables again!). Edit: obviously I shouldn't really blame the list, since "operator error" is a lot more likely.
