I have recently purchased a necron monolith and discovered that it came without the front wall of the vehicle. at first i had considered taking it back, but then I was glancing over the apoc book and suddenly a vision came to me, a vision granted by mork. In it was a loud killy machine, much like the skullhamma battlefortress in the book, but instead of a bane blade it had that monolith i was going to return.

My plan is simple. replace the front panal of the monolith with a really big cannon (and the one i have takes up algmost the whole front side), cut off the top, add some big weelz on it and orkify it.

1.) Do you think it would be legal to use? im not sure if most players would let me use it because its not quite as big (base wise) as a baneblade.

2.) have any of you heard of anyone useing anything besides a baneblade to make one?

I wasn't sure were to post this sorry, but thanks for any replies.

Just about anything is legal in Apocalypse and with it being something the Orks looted I can't see there being a problem in freindly games. I saw someone make one by combining a Battlewagon with a Landraider once, Orks can loot everything

Well, the real problem is that i have an upcomming apoc match at my FLGS with about 10 people per side... i would like to take it as a transport for my dreads but the general rule for looting is that it can be bigger but never smaller so im hoping that the length vertically will make up for it.

great rule "you can't make it smaller so it's harder to hit but you can make it easier to hit by making it bigger "

honestly it may not be the same size as a battlefortress (I haven't seen a Baneblade in compareson to a Monolith) but it's not like you can really hide a Monolith anywhere for someone to complain about it being smaller unless your terrain is half a cardboard box.

Plus I don't remember reading anywhere that a Skullhamma Battlefortress absolutly had to be represented with a converted Baneblade, it's just the way GW decided to do it. And since there isn't a stated size for the model I think you'll be fine.

You can always have the monolith on it's side with the plate-missing side face up. Build some orky buildings and turrets on top and turn the main space for the necron crystal to a giant cannon.

Just don't name it "SkullHamma". IA:8 says anything big enough with enough guns is a battlefortress, it even contains rules for Kustom Battlefortresses.
The Battlefortress named SkullHamma is based on a baneblade though.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

This is a good idea, i might consider doing this, it might even save me the work of shortening the cannon

If you can, make it and a few others like it that can fit together into a big ol ork stompa, voltron style. The monolith feels like the chest piece.

See, i've thought about this but my usual play group doesn't use the Imoerial Armor books so i can't use anything custom.
