Knarloc Green Base, Devlan Mud Wash. Possibly a very light Bestial Brown/Knarloc Green base if it's a bigger ork. like a warboss. Just got a Thraka Green wash, I shall experiment and get back to you.

I use Orkhide Shade as a base, then a heavy drybrush of snot green, finish with a light drybrush/highlight of Goblin green.
For a lighter skin (Like my Grots) I basecoat snot green, Thraka green wash, Drybrush Snot green again then pick out details in Goblin green.

This is asked quite a bit. Many folks have their own way of making the greenskins look nice. Here is my method:
Primer: Black
Base coat: orkhide shade green
1st highlight: catchan green
2nd highlight: 1:1 ratio catchan green and camo green
3rd highlight either straight camo green or a 70/30ish mix, then straight camo green.
Here is my results. Comes out a bit yellow for some folks, but I like it.

I use my own approach, but I also like Sukigod's technique as illustrated below.
And here is one I like a lot from Irondog.

That Sukigod approach is quite good, but it's fair more steps than I care to take with painting orks.
That being said, I do like painting it so I do take some time and effort with it. I just basically do it the GW's way, although I know a few people dont quite like it.
1. Black Primer
2. Orkhide shade
3. Knarloc Green
4. Goblin Green
5. Goblin Green + Bleached Bone highlights
Im thinking of experimenting though and leaving out the Orkhide Shade step altogether, and instead just add a Devlan Mud wash after the Knarloc Green, and just reapply the Knarloc, and then hit it up with the Goblin Green.
Seems to save more time by allowing me to hit more areas of the model with Devlan Mud at once.

I use Chaos black base followed by Dark Angels Green followed by Snot Green with some Sunburst Yellow highlights (I think it's Sunburst ... the label's torn off).

I paint with Dark angels green and goblin green:
Base coat DA Green
2:1 DA green Goblin Green
1:2 Da Green Goblin green
Pure goblin green highlight.
This alternative is cheap considering it only uses 2 paints.
If you want to see pics of this method then check out the pictures on my gallery.

Mine is a series of layers that I build up with ever encroaching borders to help blend.
Prime Black spray
Base Orkhide shade
Orkhide shade/Snot green 1:1 mix
Devlan mud wash
Snot green
Snot green sunburst yellow 1:1 mix
Snot green sunburst yellow 1:2 mix highlights
Sunburst yellow highlights
Thraka green wash
Oof... no wonder it takes a while.
