I've been wondering if I should take a Vanquisher or a LRBT for my 2500 pt list. If it helps, here is my list http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/351573.page. Please tell me why one would be a better choice than the other. Thanks in advance!

My tactics usually include loads of leman russes...
750pts game = 1 demolisher and 1 punisher for me
2500pts game = 3 punishers, 3 demolishers, 3 LRBTS
You could even try an armoured company if you're in the mood

You should always expect anti-tank though...

9 tanks? holy crap. How many infantry do you roll in a that list? Basic foot infantry, and lots of 'em, or chimera vets?

@op: My army is old school and obly has LRBTs and Demolishers in it, but they've never failed me. SOmetimes I think about getting an executioner, but a Russ with plasma sponsons scratches that anti-meq itch pretty well for me.

Vanquisher is the worst kind of russ, so I would pick any other russ/HS choice over it

In any case, the problem with your list as-is is that you're bringing 3 mechvets to a 2500 points game. The first thing your list desperately needs is a pair of chimeras for your other vets (and some better guns wouldn't hurt either), and after that, a 6th vet squad.

So i should take chimeras for my sniper squads, even though they're sitting? Also, what weapons should i give the 6th squad? Plasma?

Good IG tactic (straight from orkz)
Fight da shooty: if you have ordnance barrage weapons against you, engage in close combat with them
Shoot da fighty: if you have CC specialists against you, stay atleast 18" away from them, the unleash hell

It can be made to work, but it is overpriced for what it does. Bs 3, lack of ap 1, no blast all drag it down. It would probably be fine at 120ish pts.

How do armoured companys work?

I like basilisks for objective games the put there's behind cover I orchard barrage them and they die cuz no cover

my basic 2000 pt list, 5 tanks with three chimeras.

lrbt w/ lascannon
lrbt w/ lascannon
demolisher w/ multimelta sponsons/ dozer blades
exterminator with hvy bolter sponsons/ lascannon
punisher w/ hvy bolter sponsons/hvy bolter/ hvy stubber

i know, alot of points in tanks, but, with a couple of vet squads and penial squads it is fun for me.

There's really no reason any given Vanquisher can't be carrying both high explosive and armor piercing shells. Maybe Str7, AP3, Ordnance 1, Blast, since it's a smaller caliber than that fired by the basic Russ.

2 penal legions: 160pts
1 CCS with mr. MoO: 80pts
Total: 240pts
So you would have 2260pts for tanks!
