If you had a choice between nids and grey knights which would you pick and i why? i can paint to a table top standard so it comes down to which would you guys recommend i like both armies as in the model options are grey knights a mix between range and close combat versus nids which are just close combat. I hae played other 40k armies such as tau, csm, eldar,

Tyranids are just awesome, and there are plenty of GK players in the offing. Get some bugs!

If you want to wait a month or two, the 'internets' will be all over the new GK codex and give you several viable, competitive builds with lower model counts.

That'll both save you money and help speed up your ability to build/paint a new army from scratch.

This is just speculation on my part, but with incredibly potent shooting and mass force weapons, GK are probably going to be able to consistently beat Nids in the mirror match. If you scratch a big bug with a force weapon, one leadership test later it's dead (and they have things that counteract Shadow in the Warp for this purpose).

The advantage to building Nids now is that they've been out awhile, so you may be able to find deals online, and a lot more playtest of good builds has been done so you should be able to find good competitive lists easily that you can buy models towards.

Nids are probably going to end up costing you more money overall, as Grey Knights have a much lower model count in the army.

I think i will go with GK just cause i y them out and it looks like fun to paint that army with silver some red and a lot of parchment and skills
