The page won't load for me.
EDIT: that's pretty neat, although it looks too rounded for the imperium...lol

What I don't understand is that someone can privately make something like this, and we have other examples of cool suits (like the Grizzly one, and the follow-up bullet proof suit), but none of it is produced in any kind of industrial capacity or given proper attention by a company that has the $ to make a proper effort with it!
I demand walker robot suits, and also a spin-off robot that can clean my apartment!

@pacific
because for special "suits" to pass a certain level of saftey, the wearer needs to be able to stand up from a completely prone position within a certain period of time. The time depending on the task the suit is designed for.
i forgot the name for this test
basically speaking, if youre in combat and your armor prevents you from standing up easily, the armor is useless and even a hazard
Another reason would be center off balance and stability. the Aliens powerloader...awesome concept right? a forklift you can wear. neat. why hasnt anyone built one?
well because its easy to tip over a powerloader carrying a crate. much easier than a regular forklift at least.

That's the thing isn't it? Most things are just better off with wheels than legs. They're faster and more stable.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

But as it seems people can construct things like that, there might be some commercially produced ones or ones used in industry in the future. When the Wrights built their plane, there were no commercial ones yet, either. Had there been youtube back then, they'd have posted there, too.
|
"We train young men to drop fire on people, but their commanders won't allow them to write "feth" on their airplanes because it's obscene!" (Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now)
And you know what's funny? "feth" is actually censored on a forum about a dystopia where the nice guys are the ones who kill only millions of innocents, not billions. |

There's actually another thread about the same video going somewhere in the 40k section so I'll just quote my post from that.

Yea that looked totally unpowered. Talk about wearing yourself out eh? EH!?!? BWAHAHAHAHAAAA......seriously that is a cool start. Now get some hydrolics for super robot power, and megatron style cannon on one arm, and rokkits on the other and we are in business

I liked how BIG it was next to the others. Granted they are Japanese, so the dude was probably just over 5 foot tall, but the point still stands. If that were a powered suit, with some riot response gak on it, WHOA. Step away from the vehicle, you have 5 secs to comply indeed!

Indeed, put some armor on it to reflect basic bullets, give it some hydraulic power... it could be great riot control.

Could you imagine that? About 6-10 of those, with riot shields the size of a man, and whatever else they needed to control a crowd? Oh man, Im getting a bit excited thinking about having that job, and dropping a rubber baton on some whiny collage kids!
