Just looking to get some recommendations from veteran Skaven players. I have devised this list purely on budget. Most of the models were acquired from 2 Island of Blood boxsets (Queek Headtaker and the BSB are modified from the warlords). I feel that it is a pretty solid start, however I have yet to play a game or acquire the Doomwheel. I'd like to eventually build around Grey seers, but that is currently out of my budget :/

BSB and Queek would go in the Clanrat-horde to form the backbone of my army by providing re-rollable high leadership to my flanking slave units. The slave units would be 21 strong (for panic tests) and have Death Globe toting Warlocks leading them. The rat ogres provide them a flank support as well. If kept fairly tight, most units should be in the leadership bubble. Warp Lightning Canons are just solid artillery pieces. Doomwheel was added purely because I want the model so badly

You can fit a Grey Seer in there - a bell is good points-cash economy. Also, you might want to combine the skaveslaves groups, and the rat ogres groups. (not with each other)

combine the rat ogres into a unit of 4 rat ogres. You don't get enough hitting power out of 2.

Also only 1 warlock can have the deathglobes. I suggest swapping the second out for a doom rocket.

I'll give that a try. Maybe use the doomwheel to flank for my slaves that lose the rat ogres

Where does it mention that I can't carry 2 Deathglobes? Is it FAQ'd?

You are over your points on rares, max is 25% which is 312.5.

I think making your BSB more defensive is a good idea. Drop the banner, magic banners are really only good on Stormvermin and Plague Monks, units that can take them. Your BSB should always have some defense as attacks can be directed at him by rank and file, and our Chieftens are fairly weak and the BSB is so important.

Looks good, if you're going for budget you can drop the stormvermin, pick up 2 more ogres from IoB on ebay or whatever and increase your slaves. 20 is OK but 30 is better. I think you need at least 4 ogres in a unit to be effective and 6 is even better. I am worried your current list does not pack a punch, and the bigger slave units should tarpit units while your ogres hit them in the flank.

I would combine the 2 units of slaves into one big unit... slaves die in ridiculously high numbers, and with only 20, you'll be lucky to last one round against anything decent. That is just my thoughs

Retribution: 70 pts (1-2-1 so far)

I meant to combine the Rat Ogres into the same unit in that edit but I forgot. I added the Stormvermin almost entirely because of how fluffy it is with Queek Headtaker. I will admit I pick units often based on aesthetic appeal so... :/

I cant tell if I want to build an army around the Screaming Bell/Plague Furnace or tons of Rat Ogres and 2 Hell Pit Abominations.

That's about the only reason to have them in such a small unit, though. Unless you're going for as many weapon teams as possible.

- A 3+ armour save on your BSB isn't nearly enough. One successful Death spell will kill him. Any S5 or higher attacks will still probably punch through. The Armour of Destiny or Talisman of Preservation + Charmed Shield are both good.

- At this point-level, 2 rat ogres can work. Once you hit 1500-2000, you'll probably need at least 4, but more like 6.

- I generally take slaves in batches of 50, with full command. At this level, though, I'd think that 30 would be okay.

- The Doomflayer is a bit weird. Against any army with good initiative (we're the only guys with I4. Every other "fast" army is 5 or more), it'll probably do d3 S4 impact hits and die. The Poisoned Wind Mortar is solid. And the Warpfire Thrower is...absolutely devastating when it works.
