So I've decided I want a new army. I've narrowed it down to two.

I really like how the Grey Knight's playstyle looks, of small amount of very powerful units, but what I've seen of the new fluff, it just looks dumb.

I would also like the scream-across-the-field-to-break-face playstyle of a Flesh Tearer army, and I like their fluff. The only thing is the massive stigma attached to using the BA book.

Anyone on Dakka with any insight?

BA have cooled down with the eruption of the GK volcano but they are still pretty hot.
If you did a Flesh Tearers force it would be really cool.
Doing GK might be seen as jumping on the old band wagon but if you want to who cares what anyone else thinks.

So what would be the best options for a FT army? I've already settled on using Seth (or at least something using his model because that giant chainsword is just too cool), and I would assume using assault marines almost exclusively as troops. Do Flesh Tearers have a Death Company?

And how successful would such an army be? I'm not competitively-minded, but I would like to win the odd game

Of course they do. All successors of the Blood Angels do.

Flesh Tearers have an extensive Death Company as they are more pron to falling tot he curse.
If you used assault marines in razorbacks instead of having jump packs it would fit the fluff.
It should be fairly competetive so you'll win a few matches.

Oh, alright, I thought it was something exclusive to the Blood Angels themselves. I thought Flesh Tearers would have just handed any Black Rage-d marines a bigger chainsword

Nah, I'd rather have jump-packs than keeping them in boxes. Plus gives me the option of DoA, if the situation warrants it.
