Wanted to share these with you guys...

My custom commander for my Imperial Fists army (a counts-as Vulkan He'Stan):



And my chapter's Librarian:

Both were painted by Matt Susalka, who did a beautiful job with these two pieces (as he does with all of his stuff, really). The NMM on that red sword is incredible IRL. Really fantastic work.

He used Paint Vagrant's recipe for Imperial Fists yellow, which is the best recipe I've seen for that chapter to date.

Is that one of the Scribor torsos? Looks very interesting. The paint on both he and the libby are great as well.

I'm not a real fan of the conversion work on the vulkan-captain to be honest, especially for Imperial Fists. The painting and Librarian look very nice though.

Thanks! Ya, I think that's where the torso is from.

The painting is beautiful, I wish I could paint half as good as that.

Your vulkan count as is a good conversion, its just that the torso looks to big for the legs. I have heard that Scibors "power armor" stuff is larger than GW's power armor, about the same size as a terminator. It looks like you used power armor legs with the scibor torso which is probably why it has that look. Or it may just be the angle of the picture I don't know.

Oh I see. Ya, a lot of that is the angle it was shot at, but the legs are certainly smaller than the torso in terms of proportion, no doubt about that. It's not as pronounced IRL as it is in the picture.

I also wish I could paint half as good as this. Then I wouldn't need to commission.

It's the torso. It looks off to me - not the paintjob you have done, which looks great, but the part itself. I would not expect Imperial Fists to have the Blood-Angel style muscle armor either, Imperial Fists are very pragmatic and serious looking.
