10 Lootas per squad is the exact wrong size for them to be. I'd go 3x5 so you have some long range vehicle harassers but you're not spending so many points on them.

Slugga Boyz aren't the optimal choice here. I'd go Shootas for sure. Bosspoles are a great investment as well. With the points saved on the Lootas, I'd consider 3x30 and a small squad of Gretchin to hold homefield objectives.

Rokkit Launchas are a bad idea on the the Dreads with their BS 2. Skorchas or DCCW's are the only viable options. Grot Riggers and Armor Plates will serve you well also.

Kans look good.

Deff Koptas should be run in singles with Buzzsaws and TL Rokkits. Three man mobs have way too many Ld issues.

If I run the deffkoptas in singles, I can only bring 3 right? Also if I reduce the lootas by 5, I'll have several points freed up, what should I spend them on?

Also, why would you recommend removing the rokkit launchas because of the BS 2, but recommend making my sluggas, shootas who will also have a BS 2. If the point is to knuckle drag up to the enemy to assult, why wouldn't I want the extra attack I get with the Sluggas?

To be honest, you really want to keep lootas in full units, otherwise they run off pretty quickly.

Sluggas vs shootas - Your not going for a shooting army here, i would stick to sluggas.
In the shooting phase you want to be running, not shooting.
While it may seem small, those two turns of running will get you there a turn faster than you would if you had shot instead.

I also prefer to have an extra attack in CC, that will hit alot more often than a shot would have.

Lets face it, orks are BS2 for a reason.
Thier WS however makes them great, which is why i prefer to stick with pure combat.


Dread wise i agree with clay.
They really need skorcha and CCW (or 2 skorcha if you prefer)
that way it removes thier poor BS as a problem.
Also means they can either thin out a unit for the boyz, or thin it out then finish it.


Kanz are pretty solid IMO.
However, if you start finding problems against 2+ saves on a common basis (as i have) it might be worth throwing KMB's on a unit or 2 of kanz.
While they cost more and only have a real use against heavy armoured troops, it saves alot of time and headache to be able to just shoot them.

Thanks Clay and Jack for advice! Very, very helpful and informative.

Now for a more Noobish question...

Exactly how does the Kan Wall work? Does it work like the name suggest, with all the kans in front of the Boyz? And doesn't the Mek need to be within 6'' for the cover save? So I have kans, mek, kans, mek, kans. Are the meks behind the kans and moving with the boyz?

The Kan wall works by putting your Meks inside your mobs of boys and putting a line of Kans across the front of them. Then move forward, shoot, rinse and repeat.

That's why shootas are superior to sluggas. If your boyz are running each turn, then they'll outpace the Kans and the wall will fall apart.
