I can't find any reference to using stand and shoot rules with a model armed with a template firing weapon. I'm a fantasy newb, and while skimming through the Dogs of War codex I saw a magical weapon called a "decksweeper" that fired a template. Maybe official codexes don't have similar weapons, which would explain why I haven't been able to find a rules reference, but wanted to check and see if I missed it.

Not sure but they maybe army specific and in the Army Books?
The Dwarf Miners can have an explosives chap who lobs sticks of dynamite at the charging unit once per game.
Am sure it is a blast template.

The Skaven Warpfire thrower specifically states that it can stand and shoot (I think).

Sure, but how would you resolve it? It says if a unit charges from outside the weapon's range, the weapon user waits until the charging unit is in range, then fires. In that case I assume the template hits one model as you fire it the instant someone comes in range of the very edge of the template?

Hm, I'm unfamiliar with that weapon, does it fire in a template that just sits at the edge of the model? Or is the template modified by an artillery die roll like a Warpfire Thrower?

If the charge is coming from beyond the weapon's range, then you do not get to fire. The Warpfire Thrower typically doesn't have this issue thanks to an 18" potential range (8" template + artillery).

Per the Skaven FAQ, the Warpfire Thrower stands and shoots at the unit when they declare a charge. THe weapon team just shoots at the unit where it is, before any moves are made. I'm at work, so I can't quote this but I know its in the skaven faq. Hope this helps.

I've used the Warpfire Throwers stand and shoot to devastating effect, but I'm unfamiliar with the "decksweeper" so I didn't know if it got to modify the template range by artillery die (ala the Warpfire Thrower) or if it was just straight template range.

apply the stand and shoot rules as normal.
so the warp fire thrower could miss the same as normal by shooting short or long. if by chance the chargers are beyond 18" then the maximum number models you can hit is one as they stop at maximum range the shot is resolved then they continue their charge.

Blast Charges for the miners does a D6 hits, and does not use a template.
Warpfire thrower fires before chargers are moved. If somebody is charging from 19", you can't hit them in 8th edition (though they are likely to fail the charge).
Could you let us know what has Deck Sweeper. I've played Dog of War before, but I don't recall that item.
Generally, any shooting attack can stand and fire, warmachines cannot. Magic items, depend on the item description.
