Do you guys and gals think that this would be ok?

a lot of bashing together would happen but i think this would look pretty cool, obviously lose the bloke in the seat belts and replace it with something else maybe like a demon host or something.

let me know your thoughts and ideas

I don't really see this working unless you green stuff the hell out of it, essentially turning it into some kind of giant daemon.

However, it still doesn't really shout "defiler" to me.

Plus there is the whole fluff problem of GK's stuff being essentially poison to anything chaos which I think puts me off more than the fact the dreadknight looks nothing like anything that could be a defiler, or indeed anything that would be in a chaos army.

i dont mean using it as a posessed dreadnight i mean using the kit to make a defiler, like shoulder mounting the cannon and switching the hands for defiler claws and armor plating the hell out of it, also on a side note, would it make a good looking iron warriors daemon prince?

Yes, I know what you mean. However, the model itself doesn't lend itself (IMO) to being used as a "counts as" deflier, even with some work done on it.

And regards being a DP - possibly, yes. I can see something along those lines, however, you would probably want to model it crouching down as it is quite a lot larger than most other DP models

I wouldn't. It just seems like too much trauma for the sake of using the dreadknight model.

If we can't talk you out of buying one to use it, can we at least talk you into buying one just to paint?

I could see it being done, make look like a big metal golem.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

it will be done just to paint for now, i think the legs of the defiler would combine with the dreadknight torso quite well by the looks of the one at my local store as they are seperate, its gotta be better than the current defiler body, maybe i will wait a while and pick up the bitz for it after its been released rather than buying two whole kits

I've been itching to convert this into something chaosy also. It just seems like a really cool kit.

I think it'd be a great source of bits for a iron warriors DP. For the defiler I think using just the upper body would be fine, just put the battlecannon where the cockpit is. It would basically end up looking like a more mechanized version of the souldgrinder.

Go for it. Would fit very good for Iron Warriors.

By building your defiler out of a DK you are not implying that it is an ex GK that turned chaos so even from the fluff perspective you are good.

Bringing up fluff as reason to not build something? I don't get it.

I am thinking that I am going to use the kit for a knight style defiler conversion that I have been working on too. For mine I will be combining a defiler kit with the dreadnight kit.

Weapon options are 3 DCCW and a heavy flamer, and Battle Cannon base, and then you can exchange one DCCW out for a TL autocannon if my memory serves me right.

So I had to have a go at this, signed up to show you my pictures.

Please let me know what you think.

I included a couple of shots of my older defiler conversion so you can get an idea for paint and theme.

Cheers.
