I was wondering. In the codex Dark Angels, Gw stated that while the Dark Angels Geneseed is the purest geneseed in existance, there are few succesor chapters.
is was wondering why. because if the high lord know of the dark angels hidden agenda, inquisition would wipe them, just to be sure.
so what do you guys think about it

There are many succesor chapters. There's only 4 that know the secret.
Ultramarines have the purest Geneseed.

There are many successors to the Dark Angels, but the salamanders boast the least number of successor chapters.

Unless they have no successor chapter then SW beat them.

They so called successors claim to be of that lineage but the salamanders deny the existence of any successors. So yes in that cases the Space Wolves have them beat.

It should be fairly easy to find out...

The chapter in question dissapeared without a trace before it could be performed.

Never mind.
Successor chapters are only the chapters made in the original break-up of the legions apparently.
Everything else is... not really sure.
Either way SW have 1 successor chapter whilst the Salamanders have none.

Use my logic, they do not count if they dissapear, or fall to chaos entirely. There are a lot of chapters that were created that have no supporting fluff as to their progenitor chapter until FW goes and writes an addendum using IA books.

I guess your right. However, I think there was probably enough Salamanders around to make about 3 chapters after the Massacre.

The Unforgiven (those that know the secret) consist of 7 chapters, including the Dark Angels.

There could be many Dark Angel succesors that have no knowledge of the secret or follow Dark Angel organisation. Due to the Ultramarines' geneseed being relativly pure, the chapter's openness and number of second founding means thay will have the most succesor chapters.

I made a DYI Dark Angel Successor chapter. But thats beside the point.
The Dark Angels have alot of successor chapters. Especially compared to the Salamanders and Space Wolves.

There are many DA successor chapters but only (apparently) 7 that make up The Unforgiven: the inner circle.

the Dark Angels are known for pursuing there own agendas, and not following orders or even regarding distress signals from other imperial organisations.

because of this the High lords distrust the DA geneseed, and would rather use another geneseed, from a Chapter that is known to be useful and loyal

in other words, why create a potential problem when you can lower the risk as much as possible
