Subject: Werewolves, which army book?

So someone mentioned werewolves in front of me the other day and now I want an army of them but I don't know which army book to use.
I've had a look through the lizardmen book and it looks like its got what I need (strong leaders, fast but week hordes that can be regular wolves or something, strong infantry and monsters) but I don't really know that much about most the fantasy armies so if anyone could point me at a better codex you shall have my eternal gratitude (it might be worth something ).
If I do use the lizardmen book I was thinking something like:
skinks = goblin wolf riders without the goblins
saurus = beastmen *and a lot of greenstuff*
temple guard = whatever the beastmen in the special section of their book are
stegadons = ogre kingdom yhetees (mabey deamon princes)
Kroxigor = beastmen minotaurs
ATM I'm not likeing the amount of beastmen stuff I'll be using (especially since most of my heroes will probably end up beastmen guys) so any suggestion about what to use instead would be great too.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Okay this sounds awesome. I bet you can get those beastmen models looking damn wolf-like if you just clip their horns and give them some kind of tail. Also, have a look at Skaven models, I'm sure some of them would look appropriate.
Also, check out Ogre Kingdoms Rhinox for the stegadons. Vampire Count Varghulf might be a better fit for the Kroxigor.
And while you're looking at VC, check out their dire wolves. You've also got WoC doggies, and DoC hell hounds.
Edit: Hey here's an idea, you could use Flesh Hounds for Salamanders and Karanak models for Razordon. I also had a look at Gor sprues, it looks like the horns come separately, which is great for you, means no clipping necessary. Just smooth out the flat disc where the horn's supposed to go. I don't know what you can do about the legs though, they really don't look right.
I can't properly express how cool an idea I think this is.

Had a look at the stuff you suggested (thanks btw) and it looks like I'll have no problems finding models to use, just choosing which ones are what.
As for the gors legs, i agree there a little of but I figure greenstuff some toes on till it looks more like a paw should work ok.
Anyone know whether the warriors of chaos book would work better than lizardmen?

No way, I'd stick with Lizardmen, AND HERE'S WHY!
If you're using beastmen models, then the lack of armour works mechanically with Lizardmen, but not WoC.
You see more WoC players than Lizardmen.
Lizardmen get big beasties giving you tons of modeling opportunities.

What do you reckon about this for a colour scheme?
light brown skin
dark brown fur
old/rusted armour where necessary
pale green (fantasy has a 2nd pale green chaos moon right?) tribal markings
Is there a way of basing them to make it look like its night?
*oh and atm this is the best BSB i can find anyone got anything better?

Hmmm..
What size are they? they look like they would work well as carnosaur replacements (or if there not very big then one would make a good general general).

yea.. I wrote up a quick 2500 point list and I'm looking at about $570. The beastmen battalion box help though plus the wolves I'm using as skinks are on long bases so I can use 1 to represent 2 skinks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Next problem:
How exactly can I justify generic wolves (skinks) throwing javelins? Automatically Appended Next Post: I got some pics of what I'm basically going for:
(I bet you can't tell I made it out of a geenstealer )

You do realise that the moment you complete the army Murphy's Law means that GW throw a curve ball and announce a new race of Werewolves!
Which would be cool. Hurry up and finish!
Nice
Not sure about the tribal markings on the fur tbh but that is probably me worried about getting it out of my coat!

The tribal markings are something I need do touch up but without them I'm basically just dipping the model in brown paint.
