I posted this up elsewhere, but thought dakkaites might be interested.

I'm not sure it was ever totally gone, but there's a new crop of robogear available from various folks on ebay.
It looks like they've tried to create slightly less cartoony (than the original line) vehicles and also have positioned their products a bit closer to GW.

As with all Robogear products it looks like most models still look cooler without the spring fired missle launchersmissiles.

Condor: budget Vendetta perhaps?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOGEAR-CONDOR-Battle-Machine-Model-Plastic-new-/190511959186?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5b65cc92

Hunter: Who doesn't like a good dune buggy?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOGEAR-Hunter-Fighting-Machine-Action-Model-NEW-/300532792108?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f9267b2c

Locust: seems to be a reworking of existing parts with the body of a spider and the legs from the Mad Bull kit.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOGEAR-LOCUST-Battle-Machine-Model-Plastic-new-/190512080964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c5b67a844

Robogear "starship troopers action model kit" : Some nice GW CoD inpired terrain (minus the skulls) and 4 troopers. The soldiers are probably still a bit too big comapred to GW figs , but the posable arms and weapons selections are cool and the body armor is a definite improvment over earlier robogear troops
http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOGEAR-Starship-Troopers-Action-Model-Kit-NEW-/290540708998?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a5936486

I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come, or just a fluke from Russia, but I'm very tempted by the new terrain and the Condor.

Also, there's someone on ebay with a ton of the original robogear box sets in the USA. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300527890803&ssPageName=ADME:X:BOCOR:US:1123 I always wanted one, but never got around to purchasing one. Until now! Kitbashed Vehicles, here I come!

Just looks like someone has cottoned onto the fact that there is actually a demand for some of their stuff out in the west.

There's a LOT of stuff done for the game that just isn't ALLOWED to be sold outside of Russia (Airfix only had a limited licence).

by its nature, robogear stuff is modular.
That condor is the wings off one flier kit (and engines and missiles) with a new tail and cockpit (similar to the T-rex one).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

That's why I'm considering buying up a few now. There's a few units up on ebay that I've never seen in the states.

As to modularity. I've found that it's true, but now that I have the starter set in hand, many of the hull sections and cockpits that look identical have different connections joints. Still, with a little glue and a razor saw I've come up with some cool kitbashes. I'll post them when finished.

Why and how is this stuff not allowed outside Russia?

So are they toys or gaming models? Those missile launchers really make them look like toys.

Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch

I'm not sure, but I've heard that certain items that don't appear in the US or UK actually have a warning on them saying they're not to be sold outside of russia. I've only bought US released models so far so I can't verify this.

Mad4Minis wrote:So are they toys or gaming models? Those missile launchers really make them look like toys.

They are a little of both. The rules for robogear offer the option for direct fire using the working launchers and "virtual fire" using measuring, dice, etc. It's up to the players to decide which method they want to use.

The vehicles come with working launchers and the mechs come with options for functioning or non-functioning launchers.

I'm not using the Robogear rules and almost all mine have been tweaked a bit (some minor, some major) but I think many of them are fine gaming models.
The mechs are pretty good strait from, the box, The vehciles are a mix, some good and some not as good. The worst models are the flyers which have fusleages that dwarf the stubby little wings. I'm working on a solution to that that I'll post later.

Most of them could pass almost immidiately as Ork vehicles, and in searching around the web it seems that the most common use of these in 40k is for that purpose. For those not immidiately impressed with the designs, they're absolute gold for conversion fodder.

I remember these being on sale at the War Store a few years back. They looked fairly interesting then, especially the mechs. Might have to pick one of them up.

Ordered 6 more. I picked up a 3 varan...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ROBOGEAR-VARAN-6003-/290547641662?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43a5fd2d3e

...as potential basis for making some Manticore decks for my Bassilisks that I built with removable gun decks. I'll report back on how it goes.

Also got a Mad Bull and 2 T-Rex. With shipping discount and the "buy 5 get one free" I got 6 vehicles for 37 bucks shipped!

I wish this guy had the Gryphon and Condor, but those are only avaiable from international dealers at about twice the cost. Still not a bad deal, -and I may get them eventually- but when it comes to gaming I'm cheap!

I also picked up a Condor for a affordable version of a vendetta/valkyrie (damn those kits are sooo expensive!) i am also gonna modify it to get rid of those silly rocket shooters! They remind me of the Shogun Warrior toys i had as a kid (from the 70s, showing my age) that stupid kids choked on! lol!

If you can, please post pics of the Condor. I'm curious to see what it looks like out of the box.

Also, check out my thread showing a multitude of Robogear Conversions.

I have an Airfix obogear starter set sitting here.

The human figures are bigger than GW IG standing about 37 38mm to eye level.

The vehicles have great potential for IG conversions. And hav eplenty of scope for general Sci-fi an dpost apoc gaming.

Agree that they're great for bitz for converters; the flyers, particularly the new Condor are quite nice, replace the pilots with a GW Sentinel driver and they look better.

hmmm interesting, definitely a lot cheaper than any of GW's stuff haha. The demolisher actually looks like it would be perfect for some orky conversion... Thanks, I think I'll keep an eye on these products
