Try using a dark wash. Black or flesh can come out dark.

Add black to DAG for the basecoat and highlight from there.

Dark Angels green with a Badab Black wash. It'll darken it to almost black.

Thanx.
Is badab black wash better than a chaos black watered down wash
cos i've heard varying opinions. Also, which red is a good colour for the details
alongside the black armour (details being the stuff GW paint in a Cream colour for their
black armoured black orcs.)
Any input will be highly valued as i am new to painting orcs.

Theres a paint called orkhide shade thats darker than dark angels green. Maybe try that with something.

Quantity might beat quality but not for me. |

You could try yellow as a base with overlaying coats of thin black.
or try mixing yellow with black, which will go a dark green.

Go for Orkhide Shade/Dark Angels Green + Badab Black Wash. It's better than watered down Chaos Black, that I can assure you of. Just take it straight from the pot and slap it on.
As for a Red Colour, I'd go for Red Gore. Or perhaps Blood Red with a Baal Red Wash.

Personally, I prefer to use brown to darken up ork skin. A mix of darker colors like Orkhide Shade/DA Green with Scorched Brown gives you a nice, muted tone. Add black to taste for shading, building up to the straight mix, with a bit more added green for the highlights. It'll keep them dark, but still that recognizably orky green.

Vallejo makes a color called "Grey Green" it is quite dark while having a green hue to it. You could base coat your orks in that, and then wash w/ badab.
