Whenever I play a particular person, I can never seem to destroy his Manticore rocket launchers which absolutely pelt my poor Space Marines.  Even though it is weak armour I just can't crack it! I need some help desperately

Scout bikes, scout speeder for the first turn win. course that only works 50% of the time. Drop pod work all the time and if you put a dedicated antitank unit in it like a ironclad or some sterngaurd you could do a lot to a manticore.

In his face. Hard. Drop pods with dreads, meltas. Speeders, bikes etc.
You can't compete at range vs IG, so don't even bother. Get in close to restrict his ability to shoot the things at all.

Why are manticores causing you problems? You still get your armor saves against them. If you're loosing an unsustainable number of tac marines to manticores, your first problem is probably that you're not bringing enough tac marines.
Other than that, bring something better for the manticore to shoot at. Manticores are wasted on power armor, and so a smart player will target things like vehicles so it can throw some S10 ordnance side armor no cover love on it.
Or as mentioned, find some way of hitting it early and hitting it hard. Devestators shouldn't have too hard of a time with this (especially since manticores can't do the camo-netting+smoke grenade shenanigans), nor would things like bikes or speeders. As mentioned, chimera-chassied vehicles are hideously weak against assaults, and you even get krak grenades for free.

It depends on the situation. If marines are in cover the manitcore is better than a medusa. Generally I would agree a manticore is probably better shooting at tanks, but averaging 2 S10 plates throws out a lot of wounds, they can only make so many saves Automatically Appended Next Post: And to the OP, get inside it's minimum range, then it at least needs to pop out to see you. You're options of how to deal with it sky rocket when that happens.

One thing I like about all of the Guard's artillery is that they are all mounted on Chimera chassis. Front armor 12 is just high enough to force some of his dedicated AT to fire at it to bring it down.
I forget if it's open topped or not (I assume it is) but as others have said, MM speeders work wonders. Unfortunately there is probably a wall of Chimeras in your face to prevent you from getting to said Manticore, but that's another problem.

You can use that to their disadvantage if you really try. they can't put blasts down where they touch their own models, and shooting manticores in the midst of your own stuff is scary anyway. It doesn't always make sense, but keep an eye for situations where you can crowd his tanks and units so that he can't shoot you because the plate hits his own guys.

Well if he's playing mech IG there's not going to be any room at all at the back end for Wolf Scouts to walk in. 17 tanks in 2000 points, 20+ in 2500. Try fit 5 or 10 Scouts in from somewhere that's within melta or assault range from the vehicles he's trying to protect. Not going to happen.
Basically there's nothing very special that can be done about it. Manticores are often going to be a tiny bit visible to Typhoons and the kind because there's only Chimeras infront of them so take your shots at the Manticores despite their cover saves. You'll atleast shake them pretty fast to prevent your T5 or AV14 getting popped. Pretty basic stuff.

I second this, Wolf Scouts have saved my Grey Hunters many times.
As for Space Marines, maybe take some Scout Bikes and outflank with them.

I have to say i'm shocked someones aiming for mew infantry with it. I find it much better for taking out Land raiders. If anything I'd advise taking less vehicles. If its shooting your infantry then if anything thats a good thing because it'll do far worst to your armour.
