How many fallen could there be and why are they never together? I know they must of been scattered during the Heresy but that doesn't mean they have to be so scattered. Wouldn't they have form together to make a small war-band or something?

The same reason all traitor Legion didn't united after the heresy and ravaged the Imperium. They all seek to be dominant over one another, like the Orks. And that's the only reason they are never together.

There may be small warbands, but it wouldnt be very big, as many went different paths, chaos, Imperium, pirates, they broke up.

Random question since this thread is about the fallen.Do old Fallen make new Fallen i.e. recruit new dark angels to their various sides or is there basically a very finite number and a big ol' list for the DA to cross names off that will eventually end.

Also, Tzeentch was pissed that his little scheme didn't work, and scattered the Fallen throughout the galaxy, both through space and (this is the tricky one) time, so the odds of any two of a few thousand Fallen actually meeting is exceedingly small. IIRC, the only one who has been able to gather more than a few in one place at a time is Cypher.
Basically, there's a list of names that the DA have to cross off.

The Dark Angels do have a list of the Fallen, or at least commanders and leaders among them (As the list is comprised of 100-150 names, I don't think it's all of them). I don't think that sons of the Lion that fall to Chaos are added to the ranks of the Fallen, as their very existence is a highly guarded secret only shared with members of the Deathwing, and adding another name to that list that battle-brothers outside the Inner Circle know of may cause complications.
The Fallen are scattered as much because they have differing mindsets as well as trouble finding the others if they choose too. The book 'Angels of Darkness' states that they weren't just scattered throughout the galaxy, but they came out at varying times as well. Some wish to serve Chaos, some to carve out their own kingdoms, and some to atone for their sins against the Emperor.
There probably are small groups numbering more than a single Astartes, but for the most part, they are on their own. When you are hunted at all turns, seeking out others and their own hunters isn't necessarily the wisest of strategies.

And oddly enough, Cypher doesn't get along with them. Of course, he doesn't get along with anyone, that's his shtick.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Also consider: a single concentrated force is easier to find and destroy quickly - they're just being as annoying as possible for the D.A.
Maybe not intentionally, but there it is.

Yup, most of them tend to be very secretive folk-at least in areas where the Imperium is keeping an eye on things-, thus if they were to meet in any numbers they would probably be quickly found out-ten foot tall men in emerald armour tend to do that. Anyhow, getting caught means that they'd be ultimately killed, which may not be much of a plus if your doing your best to further the goals of the old Imperium-as we're not quite sure if it was the fallen or Lion El's folk who were the traitors mind.

Each space marine has the ability to try and create 2 new space marines, this is with a marine still having both progenoids and the facilities of a chapter. If you take into account that the fallen:
1. had been around at the crusade, a time of great recruitment so most likely have had their progenoids removed.
2. they have suffered the touch of tzeentch so have probably suffered some geneseed degridation.
3. they live either on the run or secretive lives so don't have the required equipment to do so.
The fallen are a dwindling number.

They are all in hiding basically, cos if anyone goes shouting their secrets, the dark angels ignore whatever they're doing to quell the rumours. If a group got together, the DA would know, and they;d all be in the same place so could all be taken out in one fell swoop.

Red emphasis mine.

Each one could come out of the warp at a seperate place and time, and to them be like a month after the battle for Caliban, but really be 10,000+ years after.
