Ok so my list is a DOA list, and a dsing land raider may mishap but it can get close to the enemy with assault cannon extra armor and 2 str 5 ap 3 flamers or mephiston, who would start as the only guy on the field and try to fly across the field using wings, which would fail half the time cause of psychic staves and hoods.

So a Dsing land raider with the rest of the army or mephiston the non eternal warrior walker eating asssasin? If I drop mephiston, I would lose an assault squad to keep my 2 honor guard and replace him with a terminator librarian to go with thss termies. I play against a lot of horde armies and 2 of 3 Nids had swarmlords at the last tourny who instant kill non eternal warriors. So to counter the horde, is mephiston best hiding until turn 2 or a deep striking redeemer for my libby and termies?

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

If you're asking whether Mephiston or the Land raider would prevail vs each other (which I think you are, although its hard to tell from your post), I would put my money on Mephiston.

Your flamers may or may not wound (needing 5+ to wound), against which he would take a 2+ armour save. And your Assault cannons may or may not wound (needing a 4+ to wound) against which he would take a 2+ armour save....unless you get a rend in there, in which case he might take a wound or two. And then I'd expect him to eat the Land Raider.

Sorry I misworded it, I was asking which unit would be best to take in a descent of angels army to counter swarm/ hordes.

Honestly? nither. If your running DoA get more bodies on the table with flamers.

having entire army in reserves and a single model on the table, even if it is a LR will be in for a world of hurt.

In a DoA army, Mephiston, or neither (Librarian, maybe chaplain or Dante, plus Sanguinary Priests).

The LR is good, but DSing it is crazy. If you DS it close enough to have a chance to shoot the flamer (only one, because you count as moving Cruising Speed per the DS rules), there's way too high a risk of mishap. And then your opponent will pretty much inevitably melta it to death immediately. This isn't even taking into account the 50/50 chance that it won't even show up until turn 3 or later, since it doesn't get DoA, as it has no jump pack. If you take a LR, it really needs to start on the table so it can start hurting people and drawing fire from T1.

No worries. Actually, in a NON-DoA list, Mephiston teams up well with a LR, as he can hide behind it as it advances, and then you've got two really nasty assault units (Mephy and the assault terminators in the LR) moving up sort-of-using one transport.
