Hey guys, I may start collecting a nurgle army and summoned daemons seem quite cool in the game as the cheapest big unit to field. But summoned daemons for nurgle at £15 for 5 is a wee but pricey. So? How about using the zombies, dead cheap and dead fun. They seem to fit the nurgle theme but dont quite settle neatly into the fluff. So what do you guys thinkabout fielding zombies as summoned daemons?

Zombies are a bit goofy for my tastes. I've seen awesome conversions done with Bloodletters and/or Ghouls, who have more of the lanky feel to it. You'd have to be good with GS though, since you need to sculpt on a single cyclopean eye and the belly.

Zombies fit a Nurgle themed army perfectly and are quite cost effective as well.
My own Death Guard army has a huge horde of zombies amongst their ranks.

Are you aware of Imperial Armour 7? It contains a wonderful Nurgle army list, among other things there is an option for zombies (6pts per model, rubbish but hard to put down with the FNP rule).

All in all it's not a bad way to avoid the cost of all metal Nurgle....does he even have any plastic models?

Nurgle is currently the only chaos power with no dedicated plastic set, even for CSM. Plague Marines and Typhus are all the "true" nurgle units in CSM, and PMs are also the only cult troopers who are completely metal. The Plastic Gods hate Nurgle =(

Not bad rules rather than plague bearers, suppose it fits the "zombie horde" feel

Lonecoon wrote:Plastic Zombies, 24 of them

I was thinking of using the GW zombies and giving them some cadian or sm parts (spare arms legs and heads) good way to use the bits box. But they have square bases, not good I will have to make my own bases or buy some.

I was thinking of fielding my whole CSM army as nurgle marines with a S*** load of green stuff. I just hate metal, and the cost. Mecha, Ghouls could be a good idea for plague bearers, but not zombies (thinking costs here) but nice idea

Thanks guys

Make sure you close your quote tags, that's probably why it messed up. Like this:

Lol I think I misunderstood you, I thought you wanted good plaguebeaerers. Zombies would be a really nice touch for CSM Summoned daemons. I'd still prefer the Ghouls though, as the Zombies are (again) rather comical.

Also maybe consider the Corpse Cart as a GD?

Nice Idea, but I think a greater daemon is more of a single figure... perhaps the night bringer as the grim reaper XD but Probs just the great unclean one or a plastic daemon prince with some nice modelling

Wow, I think zombies would be a neat (if campy) site on a battlefield!

Go for it!

I can imagine a bunch of guardsmen huddled in their trenches with smoke misting across the field in front of them only to see animated 'nurgly' ex-comrades shuffling toward them.

Kinda creepy.

Much better than GK monkeys.

maybe so or maybe not. But stuff it I will use them as zombies in normal (5 pts each) games and if the opponent is really anal then I shall just use them as summoned daemons. But yes Uhlan, I hope to give them tonns of cadian bits, all in the same colour scheme.
