I got this in a lot of Grenadier and Ral Parha minis and at first I thought it was just a broken giant cyclops but after cleaning off the layers of paint it seemed he was supposed to be that way. So what is he is he from a myth or legend I've never heard of ? Or is he an obscure D&D monster? Or did the sculptor just wanted to save on metal?
Can anyone help shed some light.
Cheers Mu.

In Mythology there is the "Palesmurt" which is a humanoid monster from the folklore of the Volga region of Russia. Described as looking like a human but with only one half of the body: one arm and hand, one leg and foot, and a head with only one eye. This horrific being trapped unwary travellers in his territory and choked them to death.

(Found the above on Google in Giants, monsters, and dragons: an encyclopedia of folklore, legend, and myth
By Carol Rose)

I remember there being a similar monster in Ad&d, but the name is escaping me. And since I sold off all my stuff, its going to bug me to no end.

And how it choked people, I have no idea...

Thanks Cruentus I'll look up that book next time I get a few minutes, maybe he smothers them with his strange hairy webbed foot.
If it helps anyone the mini is giant size (well about 50mm).

That thing is giving me a headache just looking at it >.<

It's like staring at one of those Escher prints...

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

That's the one!
Porkuslime you're a google-whizz, guess I might have to try painting a tartan pattern on his skirt.
Interesting that the Russian's Palesmurt is very similar I always like it when the same myths and legends crop up in different cultures, it makes me think of stories traveling the world.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Really?... runs downstairs to find old Runequest Monsters book.... lo and behold on page 44 Fachan (monupus cyclops)!
So now I've not only got a name and a colour scheme I've even got stats.
