Going to do some armour upgrades and insignia on my rhinos. I need some advice on what some of you guys use.

So what's a good thickness for armoured vehicles?

What's a good thickness for vanbraces shoulder guards etc?

What companies do you use?

cheers

1mm is a generally good all rounder.

it's widely available n 10, 20 and 30 thou thicknesses.

Translation

Thou ( thousandths of an inch)

10thou = 0.254mm
20thou = 0.508mm
30thou = 0.762mm

and so on.

Let's take marines as an example. For Pauldrons, torso and legwork, 30thou is generally as low as you'd want to go. For layerwork on top of a 30thou frame, use 10. For rims on top of 30thou, use 20 thou for a defined height difference (shoulder pad trim)

I've used Fils Model supplies for my needs, but can't recomend them as yet until I've made a few orders. Still waiting for my first order after a few teething problems. That said, they are cheap. I can neither recommend, nor advise agaianst them as yet.

Thanks dudes. I want to be fairly intricate so a little bit of trial and error is in order. Got a tip on where to start? I thought I'd start with bulking out the armour on my rhinos in the same vein as FW add ons.

I used 1mm thick stuff for some tank armour I was playing with. It should be stiff enough on its own, but you can always thicken it locally by adding additional layers to form some intresting patterns.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
