So I just started collecitng orks and I got my self a nice set of 9 killa kans, as well as one Deff Dread, a bunch of lootas and a whole lot of boys. I was planning of running a typical Kan Wall list, footsloggers covered by Kans covered by meks KFF.

My "problem" is that I now have a set of burna weapons, around 10, that I am not using. I am trying to figure out a use for them.

I realise that apparently burnas cannot be carried on Trukks, you need battlewagons or looted wagons for it. Given that all ny heavy slots are covered with Kans, I can only get a BW if I use nobs, disembark them and embark the burnas.
The whole thing seems like too much trouble. Have burnas no place in a Kan army? Any ideas?

I just realized that Kommandos can get burnas. This makes things more interesting. Kommandos bypass the need for transport, and 2-3 burnas are propably pretty damn useful behind enemy lines.

A small unit of burnas with 3 meks isn't a terrible idea to accompany a kan wall. They repair kanz and fire their long-range weapons on turns where they don't need to. Sadly, the burnas are sort of just there as an entry fee in this case. Though the power weapons might help in a pinch, if the opponent hasn't taken the time to kill them.

Since the Kans are in squadrons, Immobilized becomes Wrecked, so you can only repair the weapon destroyed results. This is not worth it to try and fix, especially wasting an elite slot that has a lot of options in it.

options to use those burnas

1) Kommandos +2 Burnas, Snikrot. This is an good unit for a Kan wall as you can take out the back field threats and push your opponent forwards into the slow moving Kan Wall.

2) Big Mek, If you do not want the PK on your KFF big Meks, you can take a bura. 5 S5 power attacks at I4 on the charge is kinda nice.

10 Burnas is a great unit capable of one big nasty template (if fired from a transport) and giving you many power weapon attacks (if you survive contact with the enemy - who will almost always hit first!!) They are a good anti-terminator unit - if used carefully.

Burnas shine in a transport. You can put them in a truck (if you kick out the Boys who bought it first turn) and zoom them up.

10 Burnas in a BW is great, but then you need 1 or 2 other wagons for support and now we have left the dreadbash list! I have never slogged them up behind Kans. One of my opponents did once, and I was able to get the jump on them with my Battlewagon Burnas.

Another good choice for getting some 'Flames' is 3+ Meganobs w/ Combi-Scorchas in a truck. They only get one shot - but they are not helpless afterwards!

I think in your dreadbash I'd just stick with Lootas.

Skorcha Warbuggies for some speed in the list? That's assuming you have some non Skorcha warbuggies to convert...

As mentioned, if you take a trukk for a group of Boyz you can move the burnas into it on the first turn (they can not begin the game in it). This poses a couple problems in a Kan Wall however:

1. you have a small unit of boyz slogging across the field. Not a drastic problem perhaps, but in general when orc boyz are foot sloggin, bigger is better

2. The Trukk is probably going to outpace the rest of the army, and is an easy target to focus on.

Things that probably fit the list better:

More lootas

More Boyz

A unit of Tankbustas /w hammers ( a little tank shock discouragement)

Snikrot Kommandos /w 2 burnas

Suicide koptas

2x Deff Dreads 2x CCW 2x Scorcha, or just 4x CCW

Or just sell the burna arms/heads or whatever extra you got in the loota box.

Those burna bits make a great conversion base for KFF backpacks for your meks.

Just about any 'spare' orky bits can be used elsewhere in an ork army.

Back on tactics, yeah, Kommandoes are the only place I'd use burnas in a kan army. Although some people use one burna on their Deff Dredds too.

I took a group of 15 burna's one time with a wierdboy and dropped out of the sky thanks to the weirdboys. I jump a group of Termies and to be honest, i ass raped them. That is 45 PW attacks. That 5 saves will not help you. I did have some help with a small group of boys arlready fighting them but it was fun. If you use the burna's on anything other then SM's they are very nice.

NO Burnas don't have a place in a Kan wall army because the reasons you said. They need a Battlewagon which moves at a fast pace than the Kanz.

Clearly, then, the solution is simple: always bring Burnas, a Warphead, and loaded dice!
