Im thinking about trading my DE army for Tau but idk if i should lol. I never touched them, I traded my Nids and Eldar for the DE and havent had a chance to touch them once.

When i first started playing 40k i was going to pick Tau as my starting army but my friends wouldnt let me. this is an exact quote from them " if you start playing tau at all we wont give you a ride to the store or anything anymore" all because they didnt want me to play Tau, and well i needed the transportation so i submitted and got Nids.

I have had the idea of picking up Tau ever since i started playing about a year ago.

So im asking Dakka, what do you think? should i make a post on the swap shop to start playing Tau or not.

Just putting a pole out there for everyone in dakka ^_^

Get Tau. But dont discard your DE so easily. Only sell them if you need the money.

Personally I think you should take the Tau one step at a time. Given that this is the army you've had your eyes on since the beginning of your hobby, you should take your time with it and make it more than just another army.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Theres nothing worse than having to collect an army that you didnt't want to in the first place. I did the same when I started 40K when I was a mere stripling back in the dyeing years of Rogue Traider, with the obviouse expense I only got really started in 40K (I had preaviosly been playing Warhammer Fantasy) when I was given a hand me down army of 1st edition Orks as my parents at the time had put their foot down on buying more models. When I finally was old enough to have a weekend job I started off an eldar army that I wanted an I went about constructing and painting it up with love and care and they looked an played so much better than the orks I had. As MechaEmperor7000 said and I paraphrase here

Personally, I don't like Tau, and I don't like fighting them... but you need to stand by what feels right for you. If you have always wanted Tau, then, I say: "Go for it!"

Why wouldn't they drive you to the store just because you wanted Tau? They're not cheesy or hard to fight or anything.

Considering Dark Eldar are relatively new hotness, you should be able to make a solid trade. Also, Tau tend to go pretty cheap these days, so I advise picking some up before they get a new codex (whenever that will be) and demand shoots up.

I would love to start Tau up from the ground up but thats what im doing with SW. I have Black Reach's side of marines and im using that to start my wolves.

When, if i get the trade for Tau, im going to start of in small games, 750, to start so i can get used to the rules again. I barely remembered the 6' movement rule lol.
