Have you ever look at a model and thought "Oh man, those would be amazing to base a army off." Then realize after looking at the Codex that the Units suck all to hell. For example, I LOVE Flash Gitz, in my opinion one of the Best Ork models out there, but well...Their stats kinda of blow due to cost, powers, Etc. What are your thoughts on this guys? Do you have a model you feel this way about? Or perhaps you have the reverse role, where the stats rock and the models sucks. Let's hear it!

Oh so many. I love the gorgous Possessed models, but after going over their rules, really there are better choices (and cheaper ones to boot). Banshees and Scorpions too, but DAs are just much better for the points you pay. And of course, my beloved Carnifexes....

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

you understand my pain...Here is another Model I don't think it stats justify the kick ass look of the model... Mandrakes from the New Dark Eldar codex, They are AMAZING in appearance. but so so statwise.

Due to this, I am in a debate if I should ever pick them up.. I mean I could in thoery use them as filler for a army in some way or form.

I never understood this idea. If you like models, use them.

I have a lot more fun with my Thousand Sons army (approximately 0 wins, 1 tie, 56 losses) than I ever did with my pure CSM force.

Being a necron player, i dont get this :(

I simply get things like pariah's, which look like arse, play just about the same and cost more than basic metal characters each.

What flash gitz models are you talking about? The one, singular flash git model?

This describes the entirety of my first army.

There's a reason I don't play eldar anymore...

Speak not such blasphemy! The Pariah are a gorgeous model that is field-able if only to visually grace all those blessed enough to happen by a table where they are rapidly being killed off

Dude! I'm so glad i'm not the only one that loved the flash gitz entry! I was reading through the first time, getting all the fluff and I said, damn these guys are pretty sweet. I bet they have a great stat line. Then I had a very sad moment as I looked over them. Still might proxy them for fun, just have 15 running around in a battlewagon, hoping for a random roll of 1 on the AP roll.

Necron Wraiths and Wraiths.

Sure there are some tough armies out there that use them but they definitely have a flawed implementation.

Destroyers go the other way for me: terrible model but amazing statline.

I like Stormtroopers an awful lot, but I see some folks use them effectively on occasion. I like Ogryn models, but I don't hear good things about them on the tabletop. I've been known to field 6 sentinels in a game, since I enjoy their models and how they play, even if they're not as effective as Valks for the points or whatever.

I dunno, as Guard we're actually kinda short on underperforming units. I'm looking forward to using a Leman Russ Vanquisher in the near future though!

On moon miranda.

Stormtroopers.

Of all varieties be they old 3E Stormtroopers, Kasrkin, or DKoK Grenadiers. I love all of their models. But they just consistently...suck. Their old incarnation of BS4 S3 AP5 RF guns with a 4+sv was 12pts in the first IG 3E book then 10pts in C:IG 3.5E, but worth maybe 7 if they had incuded DS and/or infliltrate. Now they get AP3 guns, pistol+CCW, and all sorts of nifty deployment tricks...but their statline otherwise remains the same and they are 16ppm and unable to effectively fight anything else that expensive. They just consistently are terrible, despite having some of my favorite 40k models ever.

Likewise, Chaos Dreads have some awesome FW models, truly excellent pieces. Unfortunately the CSM Dread rules are CRAAAAAAP.

The Leman Russ Punisher also looks super cool, and I keep wanting to use one, but even with its "heavy 20" gun, it's just...bad. Anything it can do a basic LRBT can do as well or better while presenting a threat to enemy tanks and costing significantly less with 3x the range.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Alluring Mounted Daemonette

Daemonettes. They are the lowest point troop in the daemon army...they are a damn good looking model...

but...

horrors are better with their save and range
bloodletters are better with their weapon skill and power weapons
plaguebearers are better with higher toughness and FNP...

which mean the daemonettes are usually left out in the cold.

Possessed feature quite heavily here. Love the models, but until they get better possessed mean BITZ, not boyz.

Also TECH PRIESTS! I adore the model, but man do the rules suck so badly, its not even worth it for my fluffy army.
