Anyone know what would be good to use for a squig substitute? I want to field a squig herd in Fantasy but the models are all metal and a bit expensive. I was thinking of using the plastic Pink Horrors, just put them together without arms. They kind of look like thinner leaping squigs. Any thoughts?

Hmm, thare aren't many appropriately sized beasties. Perhaps you could think laterally for something squiq-sized which can simply believalby fight like a squig despite not actually being one. E.g. a brain-washed/mutated/magically-enslaved dwarf?

Just add teeth and base. Granted, it might not save you any money, but I'm sure it'd get a laugh.

pink horror head with some little kroot feet sticking out the bottom. Yeah that would work...nice!

Heck the pink horror feet would work too!

Since i really like squigs, and there are just very few models for 40k, i was confronted with a similar problem.

i got the following idea from another thread in some forum (don'task me wich, i confuse them all the times )

1. buy small toy dinosaurs (keychain accessories etc.)
2. chop off the head and forward legs
3. sculpt squig jaw (or maybe use a trimmed ork head - pink horror heads are nice too)

i didnt get around to trying this out myself, but eventually i wil (already got me some dinos...)l
depending on the used dinosaurs you can get a good variety of poses and sizes.
i chose triceratops since i think the relative size of hind legs and tail is best, but some others will do as well (just trimm the tails, horns etc.)

I wish one of the cottage casting companies (maxmini, etc.) would do some "chompy beasts" to use as attack squigs, etc.

As for using toy dinosurs as a basis, i did just that for my giant attack squig:

There's always the plastic squig from the 40k Grot boxset, you just need to trim off the arm holding him and re-build the gap:

They aren't too expensive from bitz sites although might be a little small.
