Nottingham (yay!)

Probably fighting Blood Angels:

---

Swarmlord, 3 Tyrant Guard with Lash Whips

3 Zoanthropes

3 Hive Guard

5 Warriors with Rending Claws & Deathspitters

20 Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs

10 Genestealers

T-fex with Acid Spray, Cluster Spines, Shreddershards and Regen

T-fex with Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines and Shreddershards

---

I know the T-fex Regen is a bit of a points sink and a Barbed Strangler would be helpful for the Warriors but I'm fielding the models I have WYSIWYG.

Planning on Swarmlord unit and Acidfex to soak up a lot of punishment whilst ranged units take out armour. Outflanking Genestealers should synergise with Swarmlord, who'll leave risky assaults to other units with support from Paroxysm and PE/FC buffs.

Why does only 1 tfex have a rupture cannon. . . . it's a mistake right?

I also don't think the warriors fit very well. They're not scary in CC nor threatening to anything in shooting outside of AV 10 and mediocre infantry.

My first T-fex conversion didn't have anywhere near big enough a gun to do the Rupture Cannon justice, so I count it as an Acid Spray.

Spoiler:

The Warriors don't look scary until you're at Ws1 and they're at S5 Rending due to Swarmlord tomfoolery; I do plan to add a Barbed Strangler to them, though, for pinning and wound spreading.

To date, Acidfex has killed more than its points worth in each game; largely from being underestimated and piling templates on infantry, then charging a vehicle when the opportunity arises. Today was no exception.

Opponent had two Stormravens, each carrying a Furioso, one carrying Terminators. Deployed with them were two Assault Squads with Reclusiarchs, and an Outflanking Baal Predator with more flamey death than the end of Terminator 2.

Rupture Cannon and Hive Guard kept the Stormravens pinned down whilst the Assault Squads overextended themselves. As a Furioso staggered out of a downed Stormraven and tripped over terrain, Zoanthropes vaped it whilst the Acidfex ignored it and wiped out most of an Assault Squad, which the Hormagaunts moped up with Swarmlord support. The remaining Assault Squad tried to win back a kill point from the Hormagaunts (the last two legged it), and for their troubles got Zoanthroped. Hard. The Reclusiarch was forced to roll a save against an Impaler Cannon, which he failed, and the Swarmlord trampled the remaining Marine whilst a Rupture Cannon shot down one Stormraven (dumping the Terminators miles away from a target) and Acidfex jumped up and down on the immobilised other until it was a pancaked wreck.

Seven KP to zero, and the gaming club called time on tables, saving the Terminators the trouble of walking towards a bored Swarmlord sat in a near untouched firebase.

Nottingham (yay!)

Had another bash, this time against a Termagant Farm.

Dawn of War, Capture & Control. Baited him into placing objectives opposite each other on corners, giving my Genestealers a free charge and endangering his Mawlocs and Raveners.

Didn't go too well; forgot to use Swarmlord's buff for an important combat, Genestealers couldn't punch through T6 to clear their objective, and a couple of Mawlocs pulled off a high-risk DS tag-team to deny my objective. My Swarmlord did an OK-ish job of Paroxysming his for a buffed Hormagaunt unit to pounce on, but he rolled well for his saves and saw them off with Termagant spam. Acidfex was having great fun throwing medium strength AOE attacks swarms of weak infantry

If the table hadn't been called on turn 3, my Swarmlord would have struggled to fight through the Supergaunt screen.

Reluctantly leaving Warriors in place, until other models are ready for a replacement; going to drop a Zoanthrope to pay for a Broodlord with Implant Attack to give myself some extra anti-MC punch. An ID on a Tervigon would have yielded massive rewards in this game, at the very least giving me a solid draw and putting a win within reach.

Had a crack against a 2 Tervigon rival swarm, and found a lack of anti-MC beyond Swarmlord seriously stumped me. Decided to do away with Warriors (even though on this instance they did really well at anti-Mawloc work) and add more horde in their place. New list (until I get more stuff made & painted):

Swarmlord
Three Tyrant Guard + Lash Whips

3 Hive Guard

2 Zoanthropes

20 Hormagaunts with Toxin Sacs

16 Termagants with Spinefists

10 Genestealers; Broodlord with Scything Talons, Implant Attack

Tyrannofex with Acid Spray, Cluster Spines, Shreddershards and Regeneration

Tyrannofex with Rupture Cannon, Cluster Spines and Shreddershards

Played against a mech DE army today. Mega uphill struggle; DOW with three objectives, in their favour. Had to control mine and capture one of his to win; this, against five or so Raiders, a Talos and two Ravagers camping behind solid terrain.

Deployed Hormagaunts and Swarmlord aggressively on left flank, on my objective and opposite one of his. First turn, Reavers did a suicide run to soften my Hormagaunts. Oncoming Termagants & Hive Guard pound them, Swarmlord finishes them in melee. Small and medium stuff tries to stay out of huge amount of firepower on my left flank, waiting for Genestealers to outflank.

Acidfex soaks up a load of firepower, baits Vect into jumping out and killing it with Wych help. Hive Guard shoot down his Raider, his squad takes 1W from it, he tries to catch it with shadow field.

Fzzzzt.

What's this? Your 2++ has run out of juice, with the Swarmlord in spitting distance?

Omnomnom. Wyches run, Swarmie chases down the middle, Rupture T-fex suppressing a Ravager whilst Genestealers rip up left flank fire support.

Talos counter-charges Genestealers. Broodlord completely fails to ID it. Stealers run and get shot down, feeding it a pain token. T7 FNP opposite my Hive Guards and Zoanthropes. Surviving Wyches keep running away from Swarmlord; he catches them, they rally, he eats all but one, she runs again.

Zoanthropes vape the damn Talos. Surviving Hormagaunts camp my objective, Spinegaunts run like buggery at his objective. Swarmlord charges lone Wych AGAIN; she rallies, and his guard also charge a Raider on the objective. It falls, spilling a tide of Wyches on top of him. Lone Wych runs, leaving Swarmlord staring down a massive Kabalite firebase, full Wych squad and a Ravager. Trollface.

Swarmlord survives 34 poisoned shots and a bunch of Dark Lances and a Wych charge with 1W and a guard left standing. Buff Spinegaunts to charge surviving Wyches (you charge Swarmlord, you better hope to kill him). Wyches reduced to one model, game ends with Spinegaunts three deep around their objective and Swarmlord safely stuck in combat away from firepower as T-fex comes up to throw pieplates at any other units wanting to try it.
