Purifiers most likely split and steal the henchman rhino. Strike squad can steal a razor too, if you feel like it. You have 20 TL str8 shots @ 48", and 20 PW marines driving into midfield. And a gakload of storm bolters, plus some random str6 HB's. 6 rhino chassis, 5 dreads.

Enjoy =)

Played 2 games today against gunline DA, something like:

Belial
3x 5man THSS squads w/ CML
3 Typhoons
3 Autolas
2 TLAC/ML dreads

First game, 4 objectives and DOW. I win roll off, I drive on, nothing spectacular happens. He kill an empty razor (all the henchmen are in reserve). By turn 4 I've killed most of his tanks (only an autolas and a dread are able to shoot, another dread and speeder still alive, most of the THSS dead.) We finish on t5, I've killed pretty much most of his army, and lost my purifiers and a razor and rhino. I have 3 obj's, he has none (killed his THSS).

Second game, spearhead KP's. I go first again. Kill an autolas, 2 speeders, and suppress the last speeder, another autolas, and a dread. Put some random wounds on the THSS. His turn, he rolls terrible and doesnt kill ANY of my vehicles (despite getting like 5-6 penetrating hits). I roll fortitude, pass everything, and nuke the rest of his vehicles (like one autolas alive at the end of the turn?) and a THSS squad. He shoots, finally kills a rhino, tries to assault another, fails thanks to sanctuary (rolls a double one for difficult terrain). My turn, preparing to nuke the THSS with everything I have (everything else is dead) and we run out of time, and have to end the game.

General thoughts on the army:

IMO there are plenty enough troops. Really. Although the 3 man henchman squads are flimsy as hell, nobody bothers shooting them, because of all the other targets you present (during the first game 1 henchman died). With combat squadding you have 6 scoring squads, which is plenty enough. Just leave the henchmen in reserve, when the come on walk them into razors (which should be sitting on your board edge to pick them up). By the time they're on, you should have suppressed/destroyed most of your opponents long range AT, so they should be safe.

Fortitude is awesome. Holy moly. Its fething great. I mean Jesus Christ, what was Mat Ward thinking?? Having vehicles that CANT be suppressed is great news, meaning that your shooting (mainly your dreads) are really hard to neutralize.

C&C welcome, as are improvement suggestions for the army =)

The list can be a lot, lot better still. You're playing a mostly shooty army with 19 heavy/special weapons. For my Coteaz based GK that number is 50 on the spot. Nice to hear from your games though. Congratulations.

What are you using, exactly?

I toyed around with more psycannons, but ultimately the dreads won out.

Of course, the list will be put through rigorous playtesting, and I'll tweak it as needed.

I think is well desighed and competitive... I do not like henchmen-based Gks however... But that's my personal taste

Yeah looks pretty awesome. You do love your razorspam.

My biggest question is where does Coteaz go? It seems hes being under utilised as he's freaking awesomesauce and nailing reserve armies, but not obvious unit with enough firepower to utilise his rules.

Purifiers seem best bet but have no room for him.

But yeah another good list from your Jabbdo.

What is the point in the 3 warriors in a Rhino unit?

Again I feel Coteaz is being under utilised. Wouldn't meltaguns be better than the servitor MMs?

The 3 man acolyte squad and the mm squad give their rhinos to the combat squadding strike squad and purifiers. That's what I would guess. the acolytes go in reserve and the mm apparently construct a no-fly zone. I'm not completely sold on the MMs either. Either coteaz has to babysit them when those meltas count, or you have to risk mindlocking.

Talking about the first one, a very nice & scary tournaments list.

Of course the Razorbacks Henchmen bringer doesn't look at all at solid units but as you underlined their role will be played with the bigger treats allready nuked.

I only see little problems vs Heavy Hordes/Swamrs lists. Of course you'll can hunt them 20by20 (or so) but some serious 120xboys or similar list will hurt you badly. Surely we're talking about rare setups.
Anyway, considering all the embarked (heavy 4) Psycannons and the Autocannons alltogether you'll can cut-down the enemy line nicely before the assault range.

Even vs high armoured (14) lists you'll suffer a little.
Thanks to the volume of fire you will certainly stunn them but you'll have them soonly in the face. A little problem that will be eventually easily fixed in a 2000 evolution of this list, with some laser in.

In fact it's quitely a shame that GK can't saturate the FAST ATTACS slots with "Fortituded Typhoon Speeders".
Surely Matt Ward will fix this in the next FAQ ;D

Where do you were planning to put Coteaz? with one of the spitted combat sq.s of Purifiers?
They will be almost the only units that will rush up to the midfield and it's with them that I will certainly play him.

In the weapons count you forgot to mention all the Psycannons and just for the precision:

20x 7+1ST TL shots at 48"
12x Assault 7ST shots at 24" or 24x Heavy 7ST Rending shots still at 24"
9x 5+1ST TL shots at 48"

20 power weapons just in case..

Very good list imho, even better at 2000 points.
Something like this ie:

HQ - Inquisitor Coteaz. 100
EL - Venerable Dreadnought - 2x TL AC - Psybolt Ammo. 195
EL - Venerable Dreadnought - 2x TL AC - Psybolt Ammo. 195
EL - 10x Purifiers GK - 4x Psycannons - 2x Hammers - 4x Halberds - Rhino. 338
TR - 10x Strike GK - 2x Psycannons - 1x Hammer - 2x Force Halberds - Rhino. 280
TR - 4x Inquisitorial Henchmen + 4x Jokaero Weaponsmiths - Rhino. 196
TR - 3x Inquisitorial Henchmen - LAS/TL PLAS Razorback - Psybolt Ammo. 97
TR - 3x Inquisitorial Henchmen - LAS/TL PLAS Razorback - Psybolt Ammo. 97
TR - 3x Inquisitorial Henchmen - LAS/TL PLAS Razorback - Psybolt Ammo. 97
HV - Dreadnought - 2x TL AC - Psybolt Ammo. 135
HV - Dreadnought - 2x TL AC - Psybolt Ammo. 135
HV - Dreadnought - 2x TL AC - Psybolt Ammo. 135
Tot. 2000

Just a quick thought: If you're ever up against a DE list, I could imagine your Henchmen squads to be eaten up pretty quickly, it's like power from pain for free. However, a DE player might also have some problems with the dreads and tanks. Interesting list.

Thanks for the replies guys =)

@ Toban

Hordes shouldnt be a huge problem, cleasing flame usually deals with them nicely, of course if there are multiple large units it could be a bigger issue.

Coteaz will go with one of the splitted purifiers, yeah. Although if I dont split them he ends up a bit lost.

@ Nightwatch

Yeah, DE could be problematic if they manage to kill the dreads fast enough, as they could just kite me around and pick me apart bit by bit. The henchmen will almost always be in reserve, and a razor will be waiting to pick them up when they come on, but yeah, they are really fragile, just gotta try and protect them as well as I can.

Just put up another list, if you're interested. Its got 99 models @ 1750pts
