So i have put a lot of thought into this and im going to start a lizard men army.

As im new to WHFB what do you the more experianced players think of a LZ army for a starter? Any input is good input.

Lizardmen are a pretty good starter army. They've got good combat troops, good shooting from skinks, good monsters, excellent magic and some cavarly and flyers. Essentially, they give you a little bit of everything you need to play the game. They are also forgiving in that they don't break easily.

Perfect for me then, I wanted an allround army one that doesnt rely on only shooting, cav ect.

For a starting point how many warriors is a good amount to have? I was thinkin 2 full units is that enough or should i go for more?
Im looking at rougly 1500pts as a start.

thanks for the reply.

Hmmm, most lists I see have two units of saurus at the core. I haven't played Lizards since early 7th. Hoverboy seems to be one of the lizard players who gives a lot of decent advice around here, perhaps he will pop along to the thread soon.
Just don't want to give you any naff advice!

I am in the same boat not enough advice to offer. But if you are eager to get started just grab a box of saurus, no doubt you will need some of them. Salamander hunting packs are nice too. But look around if money is an issue you might be able to convert some more expensive metal items like chameleons and salamanders.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Its the organization of the armies thats throwing me more than the rules, 40k is pretty simple but WHFB organizing a good all round army is very different and not to easy. I guess im looking at it from the wrong perspective as well "i play 40k so WHFB should be similar" Once i get that changed i should find it alot easier.

So for my army i was thinkin roughly along these lines. Points will proby be way off as i dont have the dex yet, only guess work lol.

Anyway looking at your plans.

Good start warriors need bulking up of unit size.

Blowpipes mean skirmishers which are best used in units of 12-12. I would suggest taking 2-3 units.

Krox are great for flanking high speed combined with high damage is great just use them as support to keep them from getting bogged up in enemy tar pits. CoC have the same use trading a bit of damage for a bit of extra speed, i never take any of the command upgrades unless i plan to have a character in there at which point a champ is added for challenge protection, taking a magic banner can bea nice use for them tho, a unit of 5-6 with the flaming baner can deal with hydras and a-bombs but it sadly costs more than them...

Ouch, CoC with flaming banner cost more than a Hellpit? And strike after the Hellpit? Sad times.

Indeed, instead of the vicious Cold Ones that the Dark Elves ride, we've been lumped with Jungle Cows.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
