I was re-reading Horus Rising and there is a part towards the beginning that I missed the first time that mentions a group of people, soldiers and a couple rememberancers, playing what is basically what we know as poker. One of the rememberancers knew how to play due to research of ancient texts, and it was entertaining reading about them playing it and talking about "Ancient Merica" and "Franc" in that section.
Have you encountered any other cool fluff that hints at us here in reality, with our way of life?

References to Merica, as well as many other extinct cultures (our cultures) are all throughout the HH novels.

There's a reference to a region of Terra known as "Nouva Yourk" in Wolfblade
But the fact that not much is left makes a rather good amount of sense. I mean, we know so little about the ancient Sumerians for instance and that was only 7,000 years ago.

I think it was written somewhere in 3rd or 4th ed BRB that an adept from the mechanius was extremely pleased, as he had recovered a full play of 'shakspere'

References to us, especially Merica and Franc are quite heavy throughout the Horus Heresy stuff.
Another one I can think of is in Thousand Sons, they reference the island fortress of Diemenslandt. Van Diemens Land is an old name for Tasmania, the island just below the south east end of Australia.
Oh, the Emperor is also referred to as being born in the time of Ancient Persia.

Eh, wasn't the Emperor born in 8,000 B.C.? That's long before Ancient Persia.

Oh yes lots of things are still in 40k.
They mention Alexander the Great ,as Alexandyr.
Also Sayten and the Bible popped up in the HH books.
And don't forget the Eisenstein, it says named after two famous ancient Terrans,a remembrencer and scientist.
Sergei Eisenstein,Soviet film director.
Gotthold Eisenstein,German mathematician.

If you read Blood Games in Tales of Heresy it takes place on Earth in M31 and has a ton of surprising references. There's like an entire page that refers to real-life locations but with slightly corrupted names.
