I was just thinking, how do you guys think this combo would work?

With the ability of a 36" move on turn one, and the ability to Ram, you have the possibility to put a S12 hit out.

Even without alpha striking them into a quite possible suicide, you can turbo boost so that you have a guaranteed assault on turn 2.

Lastly, pesky dakka pred sitting in the corner dropping your guys like flies? You can Turbo Boost + Ram him, quite possibly blowing him up as you would need as the strength would be rather high.

However, this goes against one of my person rules that I set for myself: Keep your Raiders cheap. At 80 points for a Armor 10, Open Topped Skimmer. Furthermore, this makes one of its most valuable assests not used, the Dark Lance. And I just can't help but think that keeping it without these upgrades would be better/more reliable.

and you're raider is going to take the hit aswell if my memory serves correctly on the vehical ramming rules, so its gonna die for what, a Rhino or razorback?

Right, forgot about the Str Cap, and yes I know, that is why I have not fielded them yet, I just wanted some opinions. From what you have said, this probably won't work.

Chances are you will end up with a blown raider alot more often than a dead enemy vehicle.
Unless of course you aim at other weak vehicles, which really does defeat the object of it.

I have to agree, I doubt they will make back their points either.

The issue is the increased cost via the Aethersails - ramming with Raiders is a tactic you generally save until after the Raider has already lost its Dark Lance and/or as a desperation move.

It does also sound like people are forgetting that the Shock Prow increases your AV for the purposes of ramming - it's quite possible that you could have a higher rating than the Predator (since you're not going to ram him head on, right?).

I personally don't think ramming plans involving Raiders need the Aethersails - between the damage cap and wanting to keep Raiders cheap I'd just get the Shock Prow.

Yea, very situational, and my Dark Lances usually dont get destroyed, generally the + on the damage chart negates that. However, I think it would be cool to use if you field DE in apocalypse for some reason (Lots of Raiders lol). All those Raiders coming in ramming you turn 1 or 2 would be a sight.

Flickerfield + Shock Prow (If points allow) For now it seems.
