15 points per model is way too much for wings! I'd say 5-10, maybe, the whole squad for 50 points.

Dropping their cost by 5 points AND giving them power weapons is going way too far. One or the other is perfectly sufficient.

21 points is what a Khorne Berzerker costs.

Khorne Berzerkers don't have a power weapon, only have strength 5 on the charge, don't get a 5+ invulnerable and don't get an extra special rule.

Ok, maybe 23 points each? For 26 points you get a S5 Chaos Space Marine with Fearless. Terminators are 30, and have a power weapon standard as well as 2+ Save. Yeah, maybe 23 points.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

To be honest with you I think the best thing to do is keep the rules how they are (they are the rules, and not _THAT_ bad) but if they are considered overcosted -- lower the cost by say 5pt/ model.

Nah. Use this stat line, so they can compete with a variety of assault based units:

5 0 5 4 1 5 3 10 3+ 4+

You need the 5 WS and S to three up other space marine units, and I5 Lets you out-initiative them as well.

25 points each, may take a power weapon for 5 points, and may take wings for 5. One possessed may be given an Icon (works the normal way). No options other than that, as usual. May take a Rhino for 35 points.

I don't think that's outrageous at all. Considering they have no shooting attack, and that they don't have any special rules.

Drop the whole random roll garbage and just give them a list of upgrade options.

All non plague marine cult troops are overpriced by current standards. Compare a berzerker to a blood angel or grey knight. Or a Noise Marine to a GK with halberd.

It is the high cost for a random unit that is atrocious.

Either lower the cost by about 5 and leave them where they are or have the options costed out and concrete.

15 pt base.
+3 pts scouting/infiltrate
+5 pts flying
+5 rending
+10 power weapons.

Let them add a mark for specialized goodness and there you have it.

Not make them have a random rule. As it stands I won't use them for two reasons, they are too expensive, they are inconsistent.

I want a unit that I can plan for and know what it will have not randomly generate every game.

Except no. They can't really fire out of a rhino, are horrible in assault, they have to pay an inordinate amount for a dude that has nothing but a force weapon, and are generally overpriced.

They're semi-usable, just because of AP 3 bolters

You could have them random and potentially more powerful, or not-random but reliable and more expensive...

First and foremost, they need frag and krak grenades. Seems small, but it's the most egregious oversight currently.

After that I think they should get rending as standard. Just look at the models; they are rending. Also it increases their versatility against tanks. And it is not so 'me too' as giving them power weapons (c.f. sanguinary guard, grey knights, etc.)

Finally, the table should have equally good upgrades, so maybe a d3 table instead of d6. FnP, Furious Charge, and Flight (Wings). Or the ability to pay for extra rolls on the table.

Cost: 20 points. Why? Because they're elites and because they have no access to special weapons. This puts them at the same value as death company, which is the most apt comparison.

I would say that Posessed drop to 20 points each.

basic equipment = Claws, tentecles, etc(Close combat weapon)

they have D3+1 attacks each phase(similer to their Fantesy counterparts)

they may purchase additional "Mutations" for the squad. the squad may have any or all mutations.

Power attacks(5 points per model)

Rending attacks(5 points per model)

5+ invuln(5 points per model

FnP(10 points per model)

Furious Charge(5 points per model)

D3+2 attacks instead of D3+1(5 points per model)


Special rules: Fleet,

Deamonic insanity: the posessed are utterly mad, their bodies are controlled by multiple wills, each a different voice.
at the start of each turn, the squad must pass a Ld test. it the test is passed they may move as normal, but if the test is failed they must move their full movement towards the nearest enemy unit and attempt to assault it if possable later that turn.


this way they are less random in their abilities
