I've been doing a bit of research and it appears old models are pretty much worthless but I was wondering if Heresy would be willing to undertake a task with me. Today I received about 100-200 old models (mostly troops) from an old friend. The majority of them are all metal with some that are a mixture of metal/plastic. I need to know what these models are (the friend didn't have time to go through them with me unfortunately).

So I am going to start with a few pictures of some of the better things and more commonly seen things in the box and maybe you can help. I was hoping they were worth something but meh....they're still awesome to have.

I imagine most of it is not that old. He kept his older stuff (over 7000 points of SoB and Rogue Trader era Marines) but he gave me these to trade/sell/play with.

Half metal/half plastic tank:

Oddball Guys:

Commisar and Mephiston?

Chaplain, Tech Marine(?), Old Beaky Tech marine?

Metal Bike:

Metal Dreadnought - Note: Thing ways a metric ton

Really wacky Terminator:

Terminators on tiny bases:

The wacky terminator is a Termie Inquistor with Psycannon, i think.

the tank is an old school Vindicator

the bike is an old-school assault bike with sidecar

commisar with PF, and Mephy (same model i think)

Beaky techpriest, servitor and chaplain

Nostalgia-mode on

As to worth, depends on the person. A lot of players consider non-current models to be worthless, but i think they have a certain charm

If you're looking at selling the old vindicator i might be interested

Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

The tank is a 2nd Ed Vindicator

Oddball pic is a scout with a 2nd ed sergent

Commisar and Mephiston is correct.

The chaplain is a chaplain, the middle one is a servitor, and the last one looks to be a Rogue Trader era tech marine.

The bike looks to be a Rogue Traded era attack bike based on the weapon, rider, and style of everything.

The odd terminator is an Inquisitor in terminator armor with a pyscannon and null rod.

2nd ed termies all came on small bases.

I didn't play back then (obviously or I would know what they are) but I can't stop staring at them. Even though I now know most are newer than I thought they still are 40k ancient history to me.

There are between 29-32 Deathwing in the box. They still are currently for sale so I'm sure they're worth a few hundred.

Thanks a ton for the help.

Thank you so much. You have no idea how much easier you made this.

Of all of them I would say the Inquisitor Lord in Terminator armour might be worth something. Always was a beautiful sculpt I thought, and quite an interesting style.

With Codex GK coming up as well..

Not sure about the 'Vincent black shadow' (bike with sidecar), do you still have the rider? They usually go for a few $.

By the looks of things you have either the techmarine or medic version of this model (if it came with metal riders).

I actually have four of those bikes and the riders are all there (it's in a massive cardboard box so I got tired of looking for him to take a picture).

I am in love with that Inquisitor. It really is a very unique model.

I have such a fondness for these old school citadel minatures. I just bought this SM captain off ebay (below)

There's a picture of him in the 2E rulebook and I always wondered who he was, he never appeared in any catalogues or anything. Thought he was a converstion, then I found out he was only sold on Games Day, 1994? I think it was. The old SM were funky, boltguns looked weird as hell in those days (the magazine was at the front of the gun, directly underneath the barrel and the front grip behind it.... would never work mechanically but w/e...)

Stalker, I'm in agreement with you on the inquisitor, in fact i'm currently bidding on that exact model!

You know, I think that the really wacky terminator may be a Grey Knight Terminator Librarian.

I know that all GK are psykers but I remember distinctly having one of those myself years ago - maybe around 1991/1992 but it had a Halberd and I'm sure I'm not mistaken in thinking that it was a GK Librarian, especially since I didn't have any normal Librarians as I collected Eldar but loved that one model.

I was shown today at the local gaming store that if I flip the bases it's kind of easy to tell when they are from. There are tons of models in the box that say GW 1991.

That would just tell you when the mould for the base was made...

All grey knight terminators are librarians, they are one and the same. (or at least they were back in my day, maybe they've changed it now.)

But that model is an inquisitor

Well, they're not all librarians but they are all psykers. Im pretty sure that on the little metal bit that slides into the base, that one said it was a terminator librarian. I'm going back a bit here but it's what I remember.

Plus on that picture you posted, it calls it a daemonhunter which pretty much clears up that it's a Grey Knight.

It also says above it "Inquisitors". That model represents an Inquisitor specifically trained and armed towards killing daemons (there are many different roles an Inquisitor can fulfil after all).

Ordo Malleus = daemon hunters of the inquisition

Grey Knights = chapter of SM with speciality in psychic powers and hunting daemons

two seperate arms of the Adeptus that often work alongside one another.

And again, this is how the fluff worked back in my day (which is the era of models we're talking about here) so it may well have changed since then.

*edit* and my research-fu has thrown up this pic of model... the tab says "terminator" (which he is... an inquisitor in terminator armour) but nothing about librarian...

This is the family photo. Wednesday I plan on going through and writing down how much of what guns/etc I have. But that's all the models that were still in good shape and not missing any parts.
