im a big tau player, but reasently i have got myself into a losing streak against chaos space marines ! i HATE them & have been deadly unlucky with my rolls against then, so i have decided to ditch the greater good and join the ranks of the emperor !

IG attracted me with their amount of troops in the conscript squad, 30 ! wow lol

but i was thinking say for a thousand point army whats the most amount of conscripts i could have ?
i litterally want to get all my models out while the other person is still trying to pick their jaw up from the floor !

does anyone have an army list for 750 points and 1000 that i could borrow, to base my life upon ?

also ... are conscripts storm troopers ? in games workshops eyes ? i cant find a box set of 'conscripts', making my amry VERY expencive ! lol i have about 60-70 connies already

It's ordinarily not the best idea tactically. For one point per model more you can get real guardsmen and if you want those men to accomplish anything other than taking up space it's more than worth it. The models for conscripts are the same as for ordinary guardsmen. The only difference is training and lack of frag grenades. Conscripts are commonly given a slightly different paint job to distinguish them. For example the GW studio paints white stripes on their helmets.

If all you wanted to do was max out your model count you could get a 75-man infantry platoon for 330 points - platoon command squad, two infantry squads, fifty-man conscript squad. It won't do much but it's possible.

They're just the normal guardsman models painted in a slightly different scheme.

Actually, you can have up to 50 conscripts.

Of course, in order to get conscripts in the first place, you need to buy a minimum-strength infantry platoon (PCS and 2 infantry squads). Also, if you get 50 conscripts, they are usually referred to as, "50 screaming conscripts." Traditions must be kept.

Conscripts couldn't be represented by stormies, on account of them being poorly trained, poorly equipped militia. Unlike most guardsmen who are given some form of training, they are pretty much given a flak jacket, a lasgun and a helmet and ordered to bayonet charge that machine gun bunker. They are usually shown by normal Cadians with a white stripe vertically across the top of the helmet

Don't use conscripts, they are garbage. If you want to spam foot infantry, then just stick with regular guardsmen.

Get a PCS, around 3 infantry squads, add a commissar, give all the officers and NCOs power weapons, and load it with some special weapons (I like 4x GL on the PCS, and melta on the rest). Combine them to a 30 man squad, and voila - you have a blob of guardsmen that can hold their own in shooting and close combat.

Why would you ever think conscripts are Storm Troopers? Why would you ever think this?

Conscripts are 4 points a model, and worse than regular Guardsmen in every single way. Regular Guardsmen are 5 points a model, roughly, but have better stats all around, access to special weapons, and access to Commissars. Guardsmen squads in the same platoon can "blob" together, in which case you can combine squads of standard infantry into huge 50 man squads. This better represents conscripts, since they can have commissars attached as well.

In short: Regular Guardsmen do what conscripts do for slightly more points and far better.

Guys, I think he meant to say Shock troops, not storm troopers.

Don't forget about the access to Special/Heavy Weapons, as well. Regular guardsmen can take them, conscripts can't.

You should get in touch with Aliaros...he has had good success with an infantry-heavy guard list (mine is more mechanized).

For something like this you'd probably want the snap fit troops that come in boxes of five. Slightly cheaper, fewer pieces, and you don't really need the special equipment that comes with the real troop box.

Personally I been thinking of buying Valhallans and starting a good old "SEND in the next wave!" Style army.

An army like that could work, assuming that it has strong support (Tanks, Valks, Artillery). The Heavies, Fast, and Elites do all the real killing, while the literally endless waves of troops tarpit the enemy, bubble wrap tanks, hold objectives, ect. ect.

Now I want to do it too. Kill points would suck though.

Well, in Canada you could order about 150 conscripts (5 man boxes of cadians) at a 20% discount store for around 288$

I have a 750 warm up game against nids on Friday, I have heard from a friend he will be spamming stealers... Expensive but fast, I can get 3 & 1/2 Connies per stealer?!
Perfect opportunity to spam conscripts???

No. Only use conscripts if you are gonna use them to bubble wrap tanks, tarpit units, camp an objective, or some other menial task. They have almost zero killing ability and lots of dying ability.

Get some infantry platoons or veteran squads in Chimeras with multi lasers and hull heavy flamers. Give your infantry flamers when possible. Plasmaguns if he uses MCs.

As thematically cool as that is, your wallet will weep tears of blood.

Conscripts do only one thing well: meatshield duty. They exist to give your entire army a 4+ cover save, but against anything, they just die horribly without putting out much damage.

Conscripts are a SUPPORT unit. They do their support thing well in the right circumstances, but you have to generate those circumstances, and they will still never be anything more than support units.

I have been thinking about taking some as well to see how it goes. But I think if you take them you really have to give them a Comissar Lord. Making them ld ten and stuborn..So they will be pretty hard to move.

Like others have said, Conscripts are never a good idea. They need a 5+ just to hit, so only about 10 in a squad of 30 will hit. Then you will only have probably 3 or 4 of them wound, then you have saves. To top it all off, they have no options. You are much better off blobbing normal Guardsmen if you want to play this kind of army, as you can get commissars and special weapons, and they only cost 1 more point per guy.
If you want to get guardsmen for really cheap, Warzone sells a bag of 80 soldiers for €19.95 that can be good stand-ins for guardsmen:

all the younger teenage boys get under his coat, ask your local GW 40+ year old regular who hangs around in the corner (every GW has one), they have experience of young boys under there coats
