Grabbed a few IOB sprues to pork out my gallery a tad.

There is not one sensible method of construction among them. NOT ONE!

The Griffon comes in two halves with wings separate. At first glance I like this, as I can paint griffy separate from the rider. Yay. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Construction is as follows : 1 griff half. Insert rider so he both plugs in to the body and connects to his arm, which is moulded onto one half of the griffon. Plug other half of gryphon onto the piece, but not before manouvering it around the riders pennant. If I were to paint sub assemblies, I'd have to double gloss them just to keep the paint job intact. It looks like an all in one job to me, which means obscured details. Yay.

Reavers. 2 Horse Halves with the rider sculpted on, yet bizarrely they went to the effort of having the head seperate. Honestly, I'd have preferred to have the rider separate.

Mage - a 3 tiered masterpiece. Luckily, it can be painted as disassembled.

Skaven Warlord - The most annoying of the lot.His arm and front torso need to be manouvered in a sweeping motion up and in. Once there forget about painting his robe. =/

Mould lines. I appreciate that a sprue can only be oriented so many ways. But a bald leading edge on a feathered gryphon wing looks ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous say, as having a sprue channel attached to the lion leg foot pad at the rear of the model. Good thing I have a swivel point file =/ For the love of all that is good, sweet and buttery! Do they not want me to paint them? Is a sea of grey plastic the new black? AOBR was fantastic by comparison.

Has anyone painted the IOB units? I'm at a loss at the moment, as they seem to be designed specifically to irritate anyone with a desire to paint them. I've chewed off half my face in frustration, and I'm only as far as cleanup. Moral support and advice would be much appreciated. I haven't really done a lot of WFB stuff.

Is it all this horrific?

Apparently even the stores themselves couldnt assemble the darn things. The local GW Shop has a crappily assembled Griffin, which has a huge crack in it because apparently someone didnt bother to push the two pieces together tight enough.

The Reaver one might be explained in that they dont want people to use the horse for something else (The AoBR terminators kinda made the actual Terminator boxset rather obsolete).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Yeah, I agree. The griffon is a nightmare

Oh, and for painting... GW makes high elves purposefully difficult to paint, while even skaven can be a pain to get the highlighting right. They also have lots of silly little detail that doesn't need to be painted, like chainmail

I allways paint everything fully assembled as it is, even with a base.
So things like this are generally normal to me.

I just have a hard time keeping it clean once ive painted it, so trying to assemble afterwards would be an impossibility for me.

I noticed. The level of detail is good, but I've found with the skaven cheiftan chap, with all those folds it's going to look a bit gash if every fold gets shade. I'm thinking a touch of shade, but more focus on the highlight. I'm going to muddy up the robe toward the bottom to get around any noticable shade issues.

Never even seen the models in person, let alone built/painted them, so... Godspeed. Good luck. Keep on truckin'. You're doing great. You da' man. We're all rooting for you.

Figured since I don't have any advice, I'd go a bit heavy on the moral support side. Looking forward to seeing how these turn out.

IE: Death Korps of Krieg Death Riders
I have the IOB Skaven already assembled, got them in a trade. So for me, I have no choice but to paint the little bastards off the sprue, best of luck brahim.
