Hi!

Im New to this Site but a 40k Vet.
I started 15 years ago with Ultramarines and still love them, but after a long break (drifted off to WH FB, then quit all for some years).

Now that im back and my Smurfs dont feel the same in 5th Edition
Sadly my playstyle doesnt fit vanilla Marines and i dont want to Codexhop with all my classic Models.
So starting a whole new Army would be cheaper and i want to do alot of conversions on them.

So yeah i fell in love with Interceptor Squads of the GK and was tinkering around a bit. but first the List and then the Details:

[HQ]
Grandmaster

[Elite]
Vindicare Assassin

[Troops]
GK Strike Squad
9 GK + Justicar
-2x Psycannon
-Rhino

GK Terminator Squad
7 Terminators
-3x Halberd
-Brotherhood Banner

[Fast Attack]
GK Interceptor Squad
9 GK + Justicar
-2x Psycannon
-Psyboltammo
-4x Halberds
-1x hammer

[Heavy Support]
2x Dreadnought
- 2x TL Autocannon
- Psybolt ammo

Total: 1485 Points.
The Leftoverpoints are filled with Blindgrenades or MC Weapons here and there, nothing too important. I had like 105 Points left,
so i overloaded the Interceptors and gave the Terminators 1 Additional Model.
But i dont know if im so happy with that decisions.

Rundown:
The Grandmaster is for the D3 Scouts etc

Vindicare and the Dreads are too good to not use them, right? I loved Dreads with my Ultramarines and here they are even more menacing. awesome!

Troops: the Plan was to be able to have enough Squads to hold objectives, so i can let the SS Combatsquad so the double Psycannons drive around in their Metal box
and 5 normals camp at the Vindicare or on an Objective.
Is it too Fragile to run one single rhino?

The Terminators: I Like them, i would prefere to have a Landraider Crusader for them and the Grandmaster (i have the Model, but i cant make it fit in in 1500 games)
so would be cutting maybe the fancy Stuff like Psyboltammo on the interceptors, 2 Terminator and 1 Dread to make room for the LR?
or a Stormraven?
i dont like Deepstriking them and i dont like Footslogging Terminators.

to my Playstyle: I like very Mobile Forces and play semi-Agressive, putting my Enemy under pressure.
letting the Rhino and Terminators Scout and Charge face first into the Enemy, while the rhino maybe gives Cover for the Terminators.

At the right moment the Interceptorsquads Shunt right into the battle (Combatsquaded) and support the rest.
I think the Interceptors have potential but are overshined by the more OP units.

i dont intend to play on Tournaments and i play mostly against a shooty Blood Angel and CSM Army,
sometimes Orcs so a rarely worry about mass armys and more about MEQs.

tl;dr Do you Pros think this could work or should i just stick to the boring Purifier spam?

I hope i did nothing wrong and got into too much detail.
I put alot of thought into the List, i guess you can see that.^^

Best Regards
Gest

i kno it sounds all too common these days-but you need at least one NDK. they truly are super-units, and soak up tremendous amounts of firepower, and can potentially distract most of an army for several turns-essentially they are there to look scary and distract your opponents, but oh how good they are at it. That's just one opinion tho-and from a tau player at that. It's really an opinion tho, it is your army after all. hope i helped mate!

What is the objective of this list? Competitive or just for fun?

he already said he wasn't going to be playing many tourneys

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also, if you have some extra pts ur looking to fill, you may want to consider putting that into switching your vindicaire for a callidus. They generally play a smaller role in the battle, but are great for HQ removal. That's just my preference tho, as vindicaires do give deadly support.

That doesn't mean he doesn't want competitive. I know many people who go with competitive lists even though they don't play tournaments.

But for some input, I would try and get a psycannon in that group of termies. They can move and fire it to full effect thanks to relentless!

Also, GK termies are good, but they can be easily outshot with heavy firepower (i.e. railguns, IG artillery etc.) so keep them in cover, as slow, footslogging units in the open are vulnerable as hell. I usually don't include Termies in my armies because of this. I don't find them worth it

Hi and thanks for the replys so far!

@Competitiveness: i would say: i like effective Lists but i wont go that far and netdeck the whole thing to have the most Competitive List around.
i like to center it around a theme or a strategy i want to pull through.
So i guess that means: Casual.^^

But i still like harsch critique on my lists, just to get better at writing them and maybe see things i missed etc. (or unit compositions that are plain stupid)

NDK: so is there a general consensus about the NDK? Personally im not sure about him and i guess i would prefere a third Psyfleman Dread over the NDK.
or is it just me that see's him dying too fast? Because i'm 1 of the few people that like the Model and would run him, but i fear that he doent work too well.

@Termis: The Psycannon is a great idea, thanks for that!=D

So would it be good to cut them back down to 5 and get a Stormraven for them?
Or better discard the whole Terminator thing and get another Strikesquad and a NDK/Psyfleman/another Interceptor Squad?

that's really a matter of opinion/play style, and it also depends on what your facing. Shooty armies: Interceptor. 30" 'nuff said.
Flexible armies: strike squad, match flexibility w/ flexibility, right?
Mech armies: Psyfleman/NDK
NDK is also flexible enough to adapt to just about anything, take that into consideration too.

I agree that the NDK is a good sponge for your enemies firepower...Does look a bit scary

I think that you are under-modeling your army with this list unfortunately. I know that at 1500 pts it's hard to fit a lot of stuff in, but you may consider a Razorback style? With Psybolt ammunition so cheap on Razors, you can turn them into S6 Heavy Bolters and might be able to get away with two 6 man squads and still get the same affect without having so many foot-sloggers. Right now you have 1 vehicle on the table, and it's a rhino, which will die easily as there is nothing else to really shoot at as they don't move fast enough.

I know you like the interceptors, but perhaps you should cut down on them? Unless you're using your GM to turn them into troops, they're not assisting in objective games too much, except to jump last minute and contest... if they're still alive. I'd say use GMs ability to turn things troop and then combat squad your Interceptors to have an entire army of troops perhaps. I like that it's pure GK though. Nice.

hi, so i was considering all of your advices and came up with some variantlists.

Version 1:

[HQ]
Grandmaster

[Elite]
Vindicare Assassin

[Tropps]
5man Strike Squad
1x Psycannon
Razorback with Psybolt

6man Strike Squad
1x Psycannon
Rarorback with Psybolt

5man Terminators
2x Halberds
1x hammer
1x MC Halberd

[Fast Attack]
5man Interceptors
1x Psycannon
3x Halberds
1x Hammer

Stormraven
Multimelta
Lascannons

[Heavy Support]
2x Psyfleman dread

=1495 points

this List seems more mobile/optimized. But almost the same modelcount as before.

Version 2:

[HQ]
Grandmaster

[Elite]
Vindicare Assassin

10man Purifier Squad
6x Halberds
1x Hammer
2x Psycannon

[Troops]
10man Strike Squad
2x Psycannon
Rhino

5man Strikesquad
1x Psycannon
Razorback with Psyboltammo

[Fast Attack]
Stormraven
Multimelta
Lascannon

[Heavy Support]
2x Psyfleman Dreads

=1500
Different approach, discard the Terminators and Interceptors for the Purifiers in a SR.

Version 3:

[HQ]
Grandmaster

[Elite]
Vindicare Assassin

10 Purifiers
7x Halberds
1x Hammer
2x Psycannon

[Troops]

2x 5man Strike Squad
1x Psycannon
Razorback with Psybolt

[Fast Attack]
5man Interceptors
Psybolt Ammo
1 Psycannon

[Heavy Support]
1x Psyfledread

Landraider Crusader
Multimelta

=1489 points. The Purifiers can be exchanged with a Termisquad pointwise.
The reason for the SR or LRC in every List is the fact, that i dont like to have my GM stand around all lonely with no friends while everyone drives around in their shiny Rhinos/Razors. Damn Terminator armours, have no friends. ._.

So what do you think would work out best? The Lists are all a bit same'ish but every List has a little twist.

I just tried justicar Thawn for the first time and this guy pulled his weight massively. First turn took a wound on him from a lascannon, Second turn he popped right up only to get dropped once more, jumps up on the fourth nicely timed to march into assault with the gunline waiting to gun my other 4 (at this point 3) termies who were just about ready to finish up with an unarmed immobile death company dread. My vindicare proved to cost me the game in the end as he rolled four ones straight when trying to pick of whatever those dudes with the blood chalice that was hiding behind 10 th/ss terminators who just made to many FNP /invulnerable/ 2ups.

Edit- Inquisitors with funny gas and servo skulls don't directly do much but are always good for a laugh.
